The Division I men's games at the South Point is called The Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic. But they have had other simultaneous holiday tournaments in past years that included D2 and D3 teams, women's teams, and even junior college and high school teams.

My wife and I plan on being there. We have stayed there the two times Bradley played in Vegas. I was not aware they played basketball games in the equestrian arena.

I see they have a western event scheduled several days before the games.

How is it possible that ISU landed a home and home against a great opponent like VCU? I thought mid majors couldn't get better teams to play them unless they played one-and-done road "buy games"?

It has been rumored for awhile that it is a home and home but no official word on that.

ISU Redbirds add VCU to their schedule with 2 year contract. Redbirds at VCU to open 13-14 season on Nov 8...VCU at ISU following season

Northwestern and DePaul playing at Redbird in a couple years is also intriguing. They may not be great games this year but in two years could turn out to be solid RPI games.

That's great. ISU gets to start next season 0-1. Dumb way to start a season with 11 new guys on the roster. Go get shellacked and/or home cooked at VCU which isn't even a top level BCS program.

The payoff is that they get VCU to visit Redbird Arena next year. That beats playing "buy games" and then getting nothing in return, and having to play another game against a 300+ RPI opponent.
