I would say reasonably attainable*

The goal is to always go dancing. You recruit kids that feel they can do this immediately. You recruit the best, schedule the best, and become the best by believing that you are the best.

To have a goal to go dancing is not unreasonable. In fact, it is expected.

If we can add one more big guy and get some team chemistry by conference season with all the new guys, there is no one in conference that I think would be impossible to leap over in the standings besides Wichita and maybe UNI.

I don't think it'd be impossible to win the Valley tourney. I think we'll be a little young and short to win the regular season, but you never know with more experience by tournament time...and we have one pretty talented senior.

Actually two pretty talented seniors....I think we'll see incremental improvement from Pickett with routine double-doubles.

Tyshon did miss the months of June and July, so he started out a little behind the others. But he was on campus from mid August on, so he did have plenty of time to get caught up.
If you look at his performances, his best games were right at the beginning of the season. His top scoring game was the first game of the year, and his top rebounding games were also in the first few weeks. His scoring and rebounding numbers in the first half of the season were several points higher than in the second half.

I do think we'll see improvement from TP, but more from experience and maturity, and from the significant dropoff of good big men in the MVC.

We'll start a dedicated sticky thread about the Bradley 2013-2014 schedule to make it easier to find updates about it. Here is what is known so far-

Bradley will have home games against-
Texas-Pan Am
University of South Florida
Central Michigan University
IUPUI
2 low or mid-major teams yet to be named that will be assigned by the Las Vegas tournament Bradley will participate in.

It has been stated that Bradley will play in another version of the Las Vegas tournament this coming season. I also heard that it might not be the same Christmas tournament (Las Vegas Classic) we were in last year, which only leaves the Thanksgiving weekend Las Vegas Invitational.

However, it was just announced that the 4 major teams invited to play in this year's Nov. 29-30 Las Vegas Invitational are: UCLA, Missouri, Northwestern and Nevada
So unless Bradley has agreed to be one of the "minor teams" requiring we play all games on the road, that would appear to leave Bradley out of this Nov. 29-30 Las Vegas Invitational.
Maybe we might be in the Christmas tournament? But Bradley was unhappy about the turnout for last December's trip to Vegas, so they did not want to play at that time again, and preferred the November tournament. We'll have to wait for more info to come out about this part of the schedule.

It looks like Bradley will play in a round robin tournament that includes Illinois, Alabama State, Jacksonville State and Chicago State.

I am sorry, but those teams are all terrible. Nothing really to improve the OOC SOS. A shot at UIUC is all this does for BU.

I am afraid most of us, myself included will have the same sentiment. Even the possibility of playing Illinois won't help our SOS or RPI very much next year. The other three would play in Peoria any time we wanted.

This is horrendous. What is the point of this??? Illinois is obviously a solid team, but having to play those other four plus UofI is a net negative, not a net positive. Did Geno not see what this type of schedule did to Jank?

I'm almost positive Illinois gets 4 home games. Bradley gets 3 home games and travels to Illinois.

Each of the other three get one home game within themselves.

This tournament will break down with Illinois playing all 4 other teams at home in Champaign. Bradley will get 3 home games plus will play at Illinois. The other 3 teams will get 1 home game, and 3 road games including playing at BU and Illinois.

So Bradley's home non-conference schedule is looking like this-

Jacksonville State
Chicago State
(and UIC still owes Bradley a game in Peoria as the return for last season's BB)

Overall, this home schedule reeks. Unless another big name school is added, and that seems unlikely since we are already at 7 home pre-conference games (same as last season), we could see another season with numerous all-time low attendance numbers. I thought the horrific scheduling-down plan was just a 1 year thing because of a rebuilding team? This schedule is abysmal.


And now the non-conference road schedule includes a road game against Illinois in Champaign.

There are still games related to a Las Vegas tournament yet to be revealed.


BTW- here are the teams on our 2013-14 home schedule with last year's RPI (according to warrennolan.com)-

Central Michigan University 260
IUPUI 329
Alabama State 327
Jacksonville State 147
Chicago State 321

4 teams with RPI of 300+, and nobody anywhere close to the top 100.

So, are these four games with Illinois and 3 bad teams an exempt tourney or just a scheduling arrangement? It should be at least 3 wins for BU and probably 4 for Illinois, but by making the other teams play eachother you actually positively manipulate your RPI. The three bad teams cannot lose both of the remaining games they play. There will be 3 games played between the 3 bad teams and we end up 3 wins and 3 losses. If these bad teams instead went and took buy games somewhere, then we could easily see 0 wins and 6 losses. So, although this arrangement won't do much for the OOC RPI, it could be worse if we did not participate in it.
