    followup on the Illini topics..

Illini still apparently interested in adding ISU's Jon Ekey

also they want Tulane's Josh Davis...

and Joe Bertrand's surgery was indeed to repair a torn labrum - same injury thatlaid up Nate Funk for a year and often takes a long time to recover from...

Illini do land transfer Aaron Cosby from Seton Hall...

Illiini fans acting like they just landed LeBron James for gosh sakes...
the kid came from Seton Hall - they were 15-18 and just 3-15 in the Big East!!!
      Cosby averaged 12.6 ppg

basically like landing a top 25 kid imo.

Averaged 13.5 in big east as a sophomore with high efficiency and Illinois gets his 4th and 5th year.

I guess I will wait & see and remain a bit skeptical he'll make much difference....
They already have Rayvonte Rice and other 2-guards coming in...and the Illini thought Marcus Arnold was going to play at their level...

anyway - what's "high efficiency"...personally I wouldn't consider a player who takes 10 shots a game to score 12 pts...turns it over 3 times a game, and for a shooting guard to only get to the FT 3 times a game, virtually never gets a steal, a block, or even a rebound.

I think he'll be a nice player. Groce is building really good guard depth at Illinois.

                6-6 12 points

                6-10 12 points

Hmm... which player is more efficient...

Player A- 6-4 SG who helped his team to the TOP 10 in the nation's best conference, shot 48% from 3-pt, 46% overall, has a 1.3 A/T Ratio, scored 14 pts/per 40 minutes played and avg 1.5 pts/shot taken

                  Player B- 6-3 SG who helped his team to next-to-LAST place in a weaker conference, shot 40% from 3-pt, 43% overall, has a 1.1 A/T Ratio, scored 14 pts/per 40 minutes played and avg 1.3 pts/shot taken

In just about every regard Player A is better than Player B - but we just had folks claiming A wasn't even a D-I caliber player while B is a hot commodity....go figure...

Well I'm not sure who player a or player b are.....but I would take Cosby over Abell any day.......

Not sure why people are so infatuated with Abell.......Cosby may be a bust too....but he played 30 minutes in a tough conference that had 2 teams in the Final Four.....so I'm not sure how much weaker it really was

Thanks. Who is Lefty talking about who played 30 minutes in a tough conference?

I think he is talking about Cosby from Seton Hall in the Big East

Cosby has proven himself playing 30 minutes a game and being hounded as he was arguably the 2nd best player on Seton Hall

Abell came in for small spurts and was surrounded by great players and I doubt was a defensive priority
