One Illini source who accurately predicted the Shaw transfer more than a month ago - says at least 3 things happening...

-Jon Ekey is gonna at least get an offer and may be an Illini
-Groce assistant Brandon Miller is leaving and taking an assistant spot at Butler
-there's maybe one more hit coming

Miller is public knowledge and was announced.

Certainly seems like Ekey is close to a done deal.

Not sure what the other thing could be, especially that would be teased from St. Louis. Doesn't seem like they'd have anything on a transfer of a Chicago kid. It's possible, Jamal Walker, Groce's 3rd assistant could be heading to St Louis as their top assistant.

the Aaron Cosby to Mizzou talk is heating up - so maybe that's a bad enough hit to be "disheartening"...
..there are a couple ppl speculating it is on recruit Malcolm Hill & his illness but nothing official

I would really hope that a media member wouldn't "tease" a tweet about a high school kids illness.

It could be Cosby, Mizzou is the destination of all transfers these days, but with visits scheduled to both in a week, not sure that would be it.

also just heard that Joseph Bertrand just had shoulder surgery - and possibly the type (Nate Funk-surgery) that takes a whole year to come back from...
He hurt his shoulder in practice a month ago - missed some time but virtually nothing has ever been said about it.
Bertrand was the Illini's solid 6th man averaging 24 mpg until the injury then less since and only 4ppg since

He is from the Midwest and has only coached in the Midwest

He would trade for a worse job at a worse program in the same conference and get paid less???

I think that is pretty significant. He is a guy that needs to get much better, and he will enter next season probably worse.
