6'9" junior R.J. Mahurin has decided to leave the Indiana State, and will transfer to Indiana Wesleyan University for his senior season. He would have been the 3rd highest scorer and rebounder returning to the Indiana State team if he had returned. Mahurin started 25 of 33 games this past year, and he averaged 10.1 ppg and 4.2 rpg.

That is very interesting -- I have always considered him a solid D-I player who could literally win games for them - example -
..their BracketBuster game where they edged Iona - and that win might have gotten them into the NIT!
His 16 pts, 3 blks made all the difference in their 1-pt win over SIU, and without him in that NATIONALLY televised game against Miami they don't win without his last second FT's to tie the game & send it to OT - then his scoring & defense in the 5 minute OT period to beat the Miami team that would later be the #1 team in the nation!
IN MVC League play he averaged 11 ppg ...and from the first of February on - 'til the end of the regular season he averaged almost 14.5 ppg -
and he would have been the 8th leading returning scorer in the entire MVC with two other of the TOP eight returnees (Arop & Odum) also on his team.
but it appears that the chance to play for a NAIA team that could have a shot at a national title and to be able to play with his brother were part of the reason - http://tribstar.com/sports/x20556560...diana-Wesleyan
within minutes after announcing the departure of Mahurin - word comes that Alex Etherington - a highly rated forward from Arcadia/Hamilton Hts, IN gives his verbal to Indiana State...hmmm..

Indiana State with virtually no lead time does their homework & still does a great job filling the open spot left by RJ Mahurin..
they scramble and sign juco 6-8 PF Demetrius Moore from NW Florida State - who just made it all the way to the NJCAA Championship game and finished 32-2 in 2012
Indiana State head basketball coach Greg Lansing announced today (May 2) that Demetrius Moore will join the Sycamore basketball program in time for the 2013-14 season. Moore has signed an Instututional Financial Aid Agreement and will be eligible immediately to play for Indiana State.
