SIU's Daniels transferring

Not a big surprise, IMO. Even though SIU was possibly the smallest D1 team in the country, and Daniels (6'5") was the only "big man" to get much consistent playing time, it seems he was never happy after the coaching change. Daniels decided to leave the team last year after an All-Freshman year under Lowery. But then after considering his options, he returned to play his sophomore season for Hinson, only to put up worse numbers than his freshman season- 7.7 ppg and only 3.2 rpg.

Dantiel Daniels, who had left SIU after last season, has decided to transfer to Colorado State.

This article says:
"He hasn’t signed a national letter of intent yet, but he hopes to do so as soon as possible,
calling himself a man of his word to ensure his verbal commitment"
I sure hope Daniels did NOT give his word to sign a "national letter of intent" because he's not going to be able to keep his word on that - transfers do NOT sign LOI's.
also --
".. this is a place I feel really comfortable with. I got to talking with coach (Larry) Eustachy.."
..interesting.......hope Dantiel has thick skin..
btw - while Daniels was on campus at Colorado State - DePaul transfer Donnovan Kirk was also there - it is not known if Daniels taking the scholarship now boxes Kirk out.
Just to show how desperate schools are to fill their last few scholarships even with minimally productive players like Daniels, Kirk, etc..
Purdue just landed two tremendously obscure kids - Seattle transfer Sterling Carter & Cornell transfer Errick Peck - household names for certain.

Dantiel Daniels is officially announced at Colorado State...to play for Larry Eustachy
Here are a few of the accolades they use...
"Daniels comes to Colorado State from Southern Illinois where he was a key
contributor
for the Salukis in a strong Missouri Valley Conference.
???He is a great fit for our style of play, and is a proven commodity with
experience at a high level of Division I basketball in the Missouri Valley. He
brings a tough physical presence around the basket, which is invaluable in
our system.???
They cite his stats as being 8.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, but they are obviously not talking about this past season's numbers (2012-13), since he was a full time starter but only averaged 7.7 ppg, 3.2 rpg, and 46% on FTs
