in a weird way - this is kinda interesting.....after Alford has bolted to take the UCLA job - now there's rumors fired UCLA coach Ben Howland is talking with the New Mexico folks..

seems like the hiring of Alford at UCLA has dredged up gobs of old memories..
this one with an interesting connection to current Indiana State head coach Greg Lansing

I did not know Lansing was as closely involved in the Pierce situation as Alford was, but it seems he was.

a story by a Sacramento Bee writer about Alford recalls 20 years ago when he had a tryout with the Sacramento Kings...
he was turned down because the final roster spot went to....
