  • Is Matt Painter a Genius or What?

He takes over a team in complete disarray, a team that couldn't beat their own mothers.
Then he loses a few of his best players to transfers, ineligibilities, etc.
Then his very best and most promising player bolts (Minnoy), then
all he does in JUST ONE YEAR is build a solid winning program that is out there knocking off top opponents.

Today they crushed Missouri, outscoring them in the 2nd half 40 - 23. He continues to get balanced scoring, and now Purdue is in the Top 25 in RPI but by beating Missouri (RPI #14), look for Purdue to be inside the Top 10 in RPI shortly.
Purdue is 8-1 and their only loss is to Geiorgia Tech (RPI=23).

Now the big test, Purdue must go on the road to play at Butler next Saturday!

From someone seeing it firsthand, I am impressed, but I don't know if I'd say he's a top tier coach yet. Purdue hired him with just one year of head coaching experience. His in state recruiting is good, but most of his other players are JUCO and can't seem to stay out of trouble. Minnoy didn't play much last year, but when he did, it wasn't overly impressive. This is a huge win for Purdue, and I for one was very surprised to see them blow away a team as good as Mizzou. Much improved, but I think our Braves could take 'em!

I just read where Nate Minnoy is putting up some huge numbers now that he's eligible at Schoolcraft Junior college.
He is playing as a sophomore and is open for recruiting.
      Anyone think he'll go mid-major?
Some rumors have him looking at Butler.

Anyone think BU would be interested in Minnoy?
By the way, I heard a rumor from someone who knows Jamar Smith, that even though Jamar is 100% loyal to Illinois, that he is getting frustrated looking at the future, that Illinois has absolutely no good players coming in over the next two years that Jamar potentially has remaining there.
Nobody good, except, Demetri McCamey and Quinton Watkins, and both of those guys play the 2-guard position, making it possible they will hurt rather than help Jamar in the long run.
Could Jamar conceivably consider bolting and going to a mid-major? Any possibility?

I am hearing he'll end up in the MAC at one of the Michigan schools. (EMU or CMU).
