Danny Granger done for the season

Former BU player Danny Granger has had a tough season for the Pacers. He had surgery on his right knee in October, then tried to return in February, but only played in 5 games. He has tried conservative methods, but now will shut down until next season and have another operation.

I think the team stopped in Terre Haute for a team meal which is where Granger caught up with them at. Rode the bus from there to Evansville I believe.

As I recall, it was Danny Adams, a redshirt player who was not allowed to travel with the team, but who drove his own car, who gave Danny Granger a ride and they caught up with the team at the Beef House near Covington, Indiana, where the team had stopped for a meal on their way to Evansville (Jan. 11, 2003).

Evansville won 93-79. Granger played and scored his career high of 37 points for Bradley (I think he did not start as punishment for missing the team bus). Upon returning, he quit the team.

Missed the team bus and was lucky enough to have DA give him a ride. His punishment was minor but he quit on his teammates. I said then and I say now, good riddance. Wonder if he still hides during the National Athem?

trade talk heats up now that it appears the Pacers are a better team without Granger..as Paul George from Fresno State stepped in and carried the Pacers deep into the playoffs

I feel the same way. I dont wish Granger any luck at all. He allows himself to get tampered with, breaks the rules, then leaves. He then pulls the race card as an excuse to bail. I think it shows the character in a person which means he is pretty shallow. I dont care for people like that. Good bye Danny. Dont let the door hit you in the ass on the way out

I do not like Granger one bit, but I do not begrudge him for not participating in the national anthem. It's something I always felt great pride in standing before I played, got chills each and every game, but it does fall in line with his religious beliefs. Just like not celebrating BDay's etc.

That being said. Screw Granger.

FWO - I wouldn't berate anyone on the basis of his faith or religion but his stance on the allegiance to his nation or the flag is NOT part of any known religion....but the issue with Danny Granger's behavior is a bit more complex and involves a fair amount of his own personal choice to disrespect the flag and sometimes make a scene..

Jehovah's Witnesses are encouraged to show allegiance only to their "Kingdom" and their faith and generally do NOT salute the flag...HOWEVER - there is absolutely NO part of their religion that tells them NOT to respect, nor stand or remain as part of a large act of respect by the people in attendance as is the case of pregame anthems or flag raising.

Nobody is asking Danny Granger to salute the flag - all anyone expects or asks is that he stand peacefully while the rest of us honor our nation & flag - but Granger chooses to leave or turn his back or remain out of sight in the tunnel.
Even so - he has the right to do so but as with many disrespectful behaviors - then those who view and offer critical opinions on his behavior ALSO have the same FREEDOM of expression that Granger has!
Only a tiny handful of people use "Jehovah's Witness" as an excuse for such behavior - and most JW's actually agree that Granger's type of behavior is uncalled for and disrespectful and not warranted.

However - that said - even the government of the USA speaks out against those who won't honor the flag - so Chico's sentiment is not fully religious but is, in my opinion, fair game.

Serena & Venus Williams claim to be Jehovah's Witnesses but have saluted & carried & worn flags at the Olympics and have been photographed with flags draped on their nearly unclothed bodies for the cause of crass commercialism.

My comment wasn't meant to be religious. To each his own. My complaint is, don't hide while the National Athem of the country you choose to live in is being played. Join your teammates on the court, you don't have to salute or hold your hand over your heart, just be there. Of course, teammates meant nothing to dg.
