you are obviously still following & reading

..and yes - this is a boring time - there should be open practices and why don't we have some off season events like this..
PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley's annual postseason men's basketball banquet, which will be themed "A Sweet Evening with the Braves," has been rescheduled for Friday, April 21 at the Peoria Civic Center. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for youth and must be purchased by April 19 through the Chiefs Club Office, located in Haussler Hall (309-677-2667). Doors will open at 6 p.m. for an hour-long reception and the dinner program will begin at seven o'clock. The evening will include several video tributes, autograph opportunities with the team members, presentation of the annual team awards and speeches by the team's graduating seniors. Bradley Basketball Sweet 16 merchandise also will be available for purchase. The dinner menu will include stuffed Jayhawk (Chicken) Italiano with mozzarella cheese, angel hair Panther pasta and Bracket (pineapple) Upside Down Cake for dessert. Bradley's season concluded last week

Fans looking for an opportunity to mingle with first-year Bradley men's basketball head coach Geno Ford, as well as his athletic department colleagues and student-athletes, will have a week's worth of opportunities when the Braves embark on the inaugural Bradley Braves Community Nights tour Aug. 7-12.

Bradley used to hold off-season cookouts & events and fans & season ticket holders were variably invited - but we just don't seem to have anyone interested any more...

Too bad just the fans seem to be interested.

ISU has really stepped up the events the last couple of years. Just had one Saturday at the Mackinaw Winery. Mostly these are for season ticket holders and you can pick which one you want to go to. I think these are great offseason draws.

fans kinda fall into 3 tiers...but what kind of marketing is ever gonna be successful if you IGNORE them??
The fans need to be stroked and given some attention.......

-you have the TRUE, DIEHARD Bradley basketball fans who think, talk, and dream Bradley Basketball 365 days per year -- all the time and never get enough.
THIS group of fans are the #1 asset that any sports team can have -- they make up a big hunk of your long-time season ticket base, these are your RABID FANS, like the guys who are shirtless at the Bears game when it's 11 degrees out, who show up at all the off-season events, come to the ITOO dinner, travel to some remote park in Dunlap or Pekin for the MEET & GREET, who give MONETARY support and not just lip-support,
and who would love to see the team over the summer - like an open gym or practice --
other teams do it - BRADLEY used to do it but now the fans feel a little shut out...like the only crumbs of info we get are rumors & an occasional report in the media...
This is why the message boards are a good source 'cuz there's always talk going on here.

-then you have the more casual fans who only keep up in season and even then may drop off when the L's outnumber the W's.
You DO have to worry a bit because if you go all summer with nothing publicly being talked up about Bradley Basketball - then these are the fans who come next fall - will need to be lured back or they are at risk of finding other things to occupy themselves with over the winter.

-then there are the fans who will only come when we're winning - they are good fans but selective and won't come when there isn't enough positive feedback & reward in doing so.
..these make up the 3000-4000 fans who used to be at every Bradley game but who are now gone - BU needs to work very hard to get them back -- and we're now stuck in the longest down stretch we've ever had...3 consecutive 9-10th place seeds/finishes...
Even when we had FIVE losing seasons in a row from 88-89 thru 92-93 - we STILL had 7,000-8,000 at all the MVC games...and we surged right back after just one winning season under MO to start drawing those 10,000+ crowds again!

Even here is southern CA I qualify as a fan who can't get enough Bradley basketball news. I look for it every night in several locations, including twitter. Unfortunately, the distance keeps me from being the season ticket holders we use to be.

Know what you mean. Been an Arizona snowbird for the past few years and never knew how much I'd miss watching the Braves, good season or not.

                ISU junior Zeke Upshaw transferring
ISU redshirt junior Zeke Upshaw is transferring to Hofstra University. That seems to suggest he will be immediately eligible to play his final season there.

he's been at ISU for four full years plus summer sessions - so he ought to have his degree by now..

Since he redshirted a year at ISU and played 2 seasons, he would only have 1 year of eligibility left after sitting out another year, unless he gets a waiver to play right away.
Jordan Threloff hits the NCAA jackpot and is granted a "legislative relief waiver" that allows him to play right away after transferring from ISU. Now he will have 2 seasons to play at NIU.

good for him because he had already burned his redshirt year..
NIU will have a tough time reaching double digit wins this season...
They won only 5 games last year, finding it hard to score, then lost their two best scorers

Former ISU guard Nic Moore is looking good in his first couple games at SMU. In their first game he lead SMU in scoring with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists in a win over TCU. And tonight, he already has 20 points shortly after halftime in a blowout of Rhode island-

Here's a surprise - or maybe not....Zeke Upshaw, who was basically never given much of a chance to play at all by both Jankovich & Muller - has transferred to Hofstra - where he's their star...
He's averaging 20 ppg, 5 rpg, hitting 40% on 3-pointers and has already gotten to play almost as many minutes as he got in his entire 3-year career at ISU.
                              good for him..

Nic Moore was the leading scorer for SMU's this year, and lead them to a 23-8 record, and 12-6 & tied for 3rd place in the American Athletic Conference, and a #25 national ranking. He averaged 13.9 ppg and shot 46% from three.

But SMU lost in the first round of the AAC Tournament today to Houston 68-64
Box score for the Houston Cougars vs. SMU Mustangs NCAAM game from March 13, 2014 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.

Nic Moore had possibly his worst game of the season going 0-9 from the field.
