CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - UNI shot 63.3 percent in the second half to pull away from a 40-40 halftime tie en route to a 90-77 win against MVC rival Bradley in the quarterfinals of the CIT Tuesday night.

Tough loss - -we gave up 90 points to a team that had NOT scored 90 against a single one of their other 33 D-I opponents...
in fact they only scored more than 80 three other times (82, 84, 85) and one of those was against Bradley as well..
On the season our 3-pt defense was at the bottom of the MVC and it hurt us last night.
On a night when we actually shot and scored better than usual - we did not do enough to stop them...

Now get those recruits onto the campus and land them...

Thank goodness this long over-hyped season is at an end. In grading last nights game DR states that it was a good effort against a superior opponent on their home court. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We lost 3 times to UNI this season and we have 4 starters more talented than they have in their starting line-up! Jake's the only guy on our team that wouldn't start for them. They have lost 14 times this year, they are not a superior team to us, or at least they shouldn't be. This baloney that we don't have good enough players to compete is nonsense! DR and KW have painted this picture that to many of you believe - a picture of how little the new staff was left and what a great job they are doing under a difficult situation. The truth is that in two years this staff has brought in 1 player (Pickett) who has contributed, and he has had an up and down year. I will give credit when credit is due. As of yet this staff has yet to show it can bring in the players that we need or that they can coach the players they have. With the schedule we played this year 18 wins was not out of reach, all we basically had to do was show up and we should win that many.

Wow, someone woke up cranky this morning. I'm not sure if you're serious or just trolling. Your tirade probably isn't even worth a rebuttal, but here goes anyways.

In GF's defense, his first season recruiting was basically lost after being hired in April. Tough to get quality commitments from the scrap heap that has already been picked over. He also lost a few decent recruits that backed out when JL departed. You're also way off in his second year recruits, his two best recruits this year were transfers that had to sit out the year...just wait until next year when Grier and Fields are on the court. K'DB showed good progress as a freshman and will contribute in the future. TP showed he can play but does have his flaws. This will be a solid recruiting class as seniors.

In DR's defense, he leaves politics aside in what he does and is usually straight to the point with what is going on with BU basketball as a beat writer. KW is all over the board because he's more of a columnist who is allowed to opine and not a beat writer. If you don't agree with his work, don't read it.

BU basketball had an average season when most people expected less, I'd call that improvement. Anyone that didn't see improvement in the program this year clearly wasn't watching. Next year will be very interesting to see how big of a step forward we can take. If GF can land a big man like Carter and another athlete like Delaney, I'm looking forward to BU back to competing with anyone in the MVC.

-first - his "tirade" is a fairly polite critique and he's entitled to it.

                          - His point about the players brought in is also valid -- Paul Lusk has been at Missouri State less time than Geno has been here - and you'd have to admit he's brought in quite a few productive players...so it's valid to argue with two recruiting classes and nine scholarships filled we should be seeing more than just TP's production...
Now it becomes mandatory as now at the ending of this season, we lose almost half of our current production & minutes played..

                          - Personally I think we still had the manpower and talent to have done better - but I will give a nod to the fact that any coach who comes in and asks players to change and now play in a system they were not familiar with nor recruited to play in - might be difficult and frustrating for both players and coaches.

                          - I will be there next year and give full support to our guys as always and I know a lot of other die-hard Bradley fans will, too...but we need something to get the fans back....the last few days I have talked with a few other long time BU fans what ideas they have and will put a few into another thread.
As to whether anyone will care - your guess is as good as mine.

                            Hmm.

Points can be made to support any point of view. I saw growth. I predicted 15 wins, we got 18. I'm kind of a positive guy so I usually try to see the roses in the thorns as opposed to the opposite.

Year three was when everyone said we could start to evaluate Geno and his effect on the program. That year starts now. I expect us to win more than we did this year. Honeymoon is over.

I have been impressed with Geno's in-game coaching. Not every move works, but he does a good job of doing what he can to help his players succeed.

The tirade has been edited by either him or one of the mods because it was potically motivated in bashing DR and KW as liberal media. My post looks out of context now because his sounds less crazy.

I give you credit, you are masterful at providing factual, yet misleading information.

Paul Lusk was hired at Missouri State one week after Geno Ford was hired here, however he was already a part of the staff there. Both Dorian Williams and Christian Kirk were recruited (with Lusk's help) by Conzo Martin and had signed LOI's prior to Lusk being hired. Ignoring that it's easier to continue recruiting as part of a staff that had been successful, let's compare what Lusk has brought in.

Both guys have one JC guy that has contributed heavy, Downing vs Pickett, I'd say that's a wash. He did take two freshman while we took transfers in last years class, but I'm more than happy to put Fields, Greer and Bell up against Gavin Thurman and Marcus Marshall.

Both guys have put together similar classes for next year to this point. I'm excited to see how ours is rounded out, but he's been setting up for the next two year, he knows that is what will get him and extension, or fired.
