Exciting game to watch, didn't think the officials were going to let Wichita compete for awhile there, every time down the court the Zags were shooting free throws. Suddenly when they stopped blowing the whistle on every play the Shockers came roaring back.

I've got the Shockers going to the final four in my bracket this year. Just a little Valley Kool Aid drinking from me but that West Region is wide open with the number 1,3,4,5,7, and 8 seeds already being eliminated from the tournament. Go Shockers Go Valley!

The valley was obviously top heavy with two good teams this year. Also a 9 beating a 1 is clearly an upset, and as FGCU proved anyone can win one game.
Will it mean as much if we finish 3rd but Creighton and WSU are not here and Belmont and ORU are? I say no. I'm sure our AD is on top of getting Bradley into the right conference.

Yep, I'll play the Saturday Night Live "Debbie Downer" role here,
Unfortunately its a horrible Catch 22 for the Elgin at this point in realignment....
The better WSU looks, the better the Shock have of being #12 in the MWC. And right now the Shockers look exceptional. Quick, Strong, Taller, Deep, and Accurate.
Unfortunately, after their run in the tourney, I think they will be receiving a phone call from out West. Conferences don't like to have odd numbers and #11 is an awefully odd one when you have a strong #12 candidate.
Sorry, but I know that we are all thinking this....

Sorry, but I know that we are all thinking this...."How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal, and you have to be willing to work for it." - Jim Valvano

Ok,
Avoid the whispers then... The #12 is on the basketball side of the MWC by the way. $$$$$ from a TV contract for the MWC/increased reputation from WSU may exceed travel costs.
This isn't going to be funny shortly for the MVC. 2 Very Good to Excellents Leaving Do NOT Equal 4 Fairs Coming In.
Head in the sand is not an option. Just heard a good line at BU....Totally unrelated subject matter...Hadn't heard it in awhile...

as fast as the MWC is changing every year - this reminds me a lot of exactly what happened when Tulsa left the Valley to go to WAC and then found thermselves bouncing from one conference to another for the past decade and a half --
Wichita had better be sure because they will find themselves as one of the only Mountain West teams without football - and that's not a great position to be in nowadays - just ask DePaul and a few A-10 schools...
BTW - regarding the SO-CALLED "inbounds violation" near the end of the game that cost Gonzaga -- every one of the broadcasters got the whole thing wrong and simply couldn't understand why the refs were checking the replay...
It was because the Gonazaga guy (Harris) stepped fully out of bounds then decided he didn't want to be the guy inbounding the ball so he flipped the ball to a teammate - but the teammate was fully inbound and caught the ball then took several steps to step over the endline and inbounds it himself...but of course the initial flip to the guy who was inbounds (Stockton) constituted the inbounds play that started started the clock. What the refs reviewed the video for was because they had ruled that the first flip was indeed the inbounds play and that the player who caught the ball actually committed two violations - he took several steps but he also stepped out of bounds. Thus the refs were reviewing to see which violation happened first and what the clock should thus be set at.
Also - on more than one occasion - the announcers referred to Carl Hall as "Marquis Hall" - who is actually a player on a different team.
AND -- one other thing - I have heard the announcers say hundreds of times that Wichita State lost FOUR STARTERS from last year's team...but is that true??
Demetric Williams (who is still on the team this year and has 26 starts this season) started almost every game last year and started more games than all but three other players..
PLUS Carl Hall was a starter and he's back this year....so that claim of losing four starters is less than 100% accurate unless you count every player who ever started a game.
