  • Michigan/John Beilein sends a message

Michigan, in case you missed it, simply had their way with a very talented VCU team...
this was effectively a 30-pt blowout early in the 2nd half with the Michigan guys having fun, throwing down reverse dunks, and spectacular plays.

They looked like a team that has regained their form and may rival any other team in this tourney...and seemed to be sending a message they are a team to be reckoned with.

But one other way that John Beilein seems to have been sending a message...
he made a fair number of subs and late in the game he even cleared the bench and put people in the game I have never heard of - names like Corey Person, Blake McLimans, Josh Bartelstein, etc...

And yet Max Bielfeldt didn't even take his warmup off and never played even a second. If that isn't a message then I am not sure what it was...

I agree,I think there was a message but I don't think it should surprise anyone. If he stays he's gonna get a good education but may never need to shower. They will continue to recruit over him for the rest of his career. Book it.

I feel Max is a talented kid and could be a key player somewhere like BU or UNI..

Maybe he will transfer. Be nice if it was to Bradley. Then if Shaw also transferred ..that would be a nice jump on next years recruiting. Ahhh!!! Wishful thinking maybe. But like Joe Stowell used to say..Yajusneverno

I did notice that they left Trey Burke in until the 1:15 mark, and he was still putting up 3s even when Michigan was up by almost 30. Shouldn't VCU remember that, T, like you said Wichita should remember McDermott being in the game late in the Valley regular season title game when they were up only by 10-15?
          Yajusneverno!

I agree, think Max would be a good fit at BU or UNI or any Valley schools for that matter. Maybe not WSU but who knows. Still wonder to this day why we didn't offer him until his Sr. season was over.

Coach Les told Max early in the process he needed a guard with that scholarship and pretty much ended any recruitment right there.

Beilein's message is he wanted to get Person, Bartlestein and McLimans in a NCAA game because those 3 are all seniors.
