List of UPSETS in NCAA

so far not a lot of upsets but what's notable is that the only real upset by a midmajor is by the Valley!
So - I wanted to start a thread documenting upsets by MVC teams...

Wichita State 73 - Pitt 55
also...although not too unexpected...Oregon upsets Oklahoma State

alert -- currently on CBS - South Dakota State is throwing a scare into Michigan...

remember when Wichita lost to Evansville or Indiana State - they'd drop severely in the ratings and the gurus would say 'overrated'??
But someone like Indiana can lose to an unrated team and not even drop one spot when they were ranked #1 and the gurus would say 'it's hard to go thru your entire conference undefeated'...
So why does a team like Wichita not get the same type of consideration on their losses?

Congratulations to Ken Kavanagh who has built an NCAA caliber team out of nothing at Florida Gulf Coast University. And tonight they won their first ever NCAA game in their first appearance.
#15 seed FGCU built a big lead and held on for huge upset over #2 seed Georgetown.

When Ken took over at FGCU in 2009, they were one of the worst D1 programs in the country, with RPI over 300. Within 3 years he has turned them into a 25-win, conference champion who just knocked off a top 10, #2 seeded team to advance to the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament. What a tremendous job he and head coach Andy Enfield have done. Enfield is now a rising star, and it might be tough for FGCU to keep him.

it is one of their hotter stories - nothing is driving the popularity of this tourney and the FGCU win any more than the millions of google searches for Amanda Enfield.....
I doubt there's any D-I school that would scoff at getting that kind of publicity even if it is maybe just a little out of proportion to what they're getting from winning this game!


Minnesota walks all over UCLA to advance - and UCLA's best player really ought to be banned for taking so much payola just to come play a one-and-done year at UCLA for Ben Howland...
gotta wonder how schools like UCLA get away with this stuff....
