I understand the desire to win, but I have to say I've always been a little disappointed in the way playing time is distributed during these low level tournaments. To me, the best use of tournaments like these is to help prepare your younger players for next season. I wasn't happy to see Nate Wells log zero minutes and Shayok and Crawford combine for just 5 total. Even Prosser only got 12 minutes. I guess I just feel like these guys are going to have to make much bigger contributions next year, and now would be the perfect time to up their minutes and see what happens. If we lose, so be it, because these tournaments really don't matter at the end of the day.

Winning it would be fun, but what would it really accomplish? I don't think it really equals more money, considering that large buy-in required to play in the tournament. I could be wrong, but I don't think 2000 fans per home game is going to really result in much revenue. It's not going to help you in recruiting because recruits won't care and it's not getting you any national TV exposure.
To me, the only reason these tournaments are worth playing in is to help prepare for next season.

I would like for this next game to have a different focus though - to give players like KB, SS, JC, and NW more PT. If we happen to advance past the next game, then play the rest to win it all, but give those guys who look to be in the mix for next season some PT too.

Geno said he was going to use this extra practice time to get Walt and other retiring players more practice reps with Fields and Grier (because they spent most of the season on the scout team)
I think that practice time would help more than just more game time.

Heck, I know everyone can find isolated examples, but look at someone like Kelly Olynyk, he redshirted as a junior after backup duty for two years and came back an All-American.
I'd rather:
1) Try to win games, build a culture of winning
2) Reward the seniors for their dedication.

as previously posted these tournaments prep you for next year in practice. In practice all of next years players should be playing together and getting reps.
Come game time, however, you play with the best 5 that give you the best chance to win, and if thats still the seniors, they play.
