  • I pick Bradley to win the MVC regular season championship in 2013/2014

OK, here is why. We will be returning the most explosive player in the conference who is easily first team all MVC pre-season. If you have eyes, you see Walt is something special around here. Next, Tyshon Pickett is a man amongst boys. Fans want him to calm down and stop being the villain with the refs, but forget that. Tyshon, keep playing your game, and you will be unstoppable next year (This is you're reality show to direct!!). We are bringing in fantastic (and I mean FANTASTIC, watch video of these kids, Grier and Fields play!!) guards! We will obviously carry depth with guards in what is already arguably the best backcourt in the valley. Our only weakness? The 5. And that's going to be OK. Why? Because no one in the league has a center next year who compares to Carmichael or the Venuezelan beast. Finally, we have a coach that squeezes every last drop out of his players. Our kids love to play for Geno, and they give him their all. Why? Because Geno gives everything he can to these kids. GO BRAVES!

but I think we will still be vulnerable to teams who shoot better and rebound better...

Can't that be said for every single team outside of the #1 rebounding and #1 shooting team?

If a team even has a prayer of being considered a good team they should be able to beat teams that shoot better or rebound better..
they ought to be able to formulate a game plan and outmaneuver them...

We knew Green Bay's big guy could shoot threes - but left him open, we knew the little guy did not shoot long range shots but liked to drive - so we got caught on the screen time & time again and let him...

we were getting beat by what I judged to be a team of lesser caliber athletes - then about 32 minutes into the game -
we suddenly started playing different - we suddenly started running off pure energy & talent - we just went one on one and beat them.
In an 8-minute span from 8:19 to 0:09 we went from 9 down to 9 ahead...
we turned the guys loose and let them play - where was that all nite - being stifled trying to figure out their zone.

Good teams do find a way and last night we did and it was fun to watch..

I was wondering to myself last night... whay if we had their big and pg on our team this year. How much better would we have been? Would that have been enough for us to be top 3 or better in MVC? I thought their big was very athletic for his size and I liked the PG a lot too.

I agree Monmouth. I think we can win next year. Our guards will be very good and I think with the guys i think he might get in recruiting this year will solve shooting problems and rebounding. Of course sometimes they dont always work out the way they seem to be scripted but I see a team twice as good as this year. Moving Lemon to offguard will make him a better player with the way he can move without the ball.
As far as the game plan last night..the coaches may have wanted to stop the 2 best players but sometimes your own players dont do exactly as they are asked. Other teams have been trying all year to stop Walt lemon. Ha!!! glad it has not worked out to well

It certainly is possible. The Valley teams lose a lot next year, and the last couple years we have not seen as much new talent entering the league. Couple that with the departure of the team that would have been picked at or near the top and next year will be wide open. Much still depends on landing a couple impact junior college guys. If we go into next season with the freshmen that have committed, it won't replace the talent we lose.

This year, we needed a PG. having Sykes would have made us much better, and hopefully having Fields will do the same next year.

Their big's numbers show he wasn't nearly as good of a defensive rebounder as Will. While he shot the ball a little better from the outside, he also turned over the ball a lot more as well, making them statistically almost identical from an efficiency standpoint (likelihood they'd generate points on a possession where they contributed).

The exact reason why I think we will win is more in the hands of the rest of the league losing a lot of talent in areas where we have been getting dominated. I see that we will matchup favorablyl with almost every team next year. A lot of people even braves fans think we will still be mid to the bottom of the pack, and that just does not make sense to me at all. Honestly, I am very confused when people do not even think we will be a contender.

I agree with you . If and it's a big if, we get the 3 names I'm hearing I don't see any reason we don't contend for the title next year. What we have to wait on is to see what everyone else brings in. That could change the picture. Again I disagree with a previous poster. I don't think it will be hard to replace what we are losing. If we can't, we will NOT contend because our current guys were never gonna contend.Pretty simple in my eyes.

Andy Katz of ESPN picks Wichita State next year and every year as long as Gregg Marshall stays as their coach
                      1. Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall has always said he has a million-dollar job and it would take something special to take him from his current position.

                          Hard to argue with that.

I think it's becoming more clear they will likely bolt, which means the MVC is the MAC. Hopefully we'll get into a rebranded A10.

Wichita State was not predicted to be as good as they were this year. I think they will be better next year. Sorry, but I still look for Bradley to be playing Thurs in St Louis next year. I predicted we would finish nine this year and we barely finished 8th. I hope I am wrong, but there are too many unknowns for our new players and other team's players. I look for Bradley to finish 8 next year.
