This is a weak field for the CBI, IMO. No MVC teams for the first time, I think. Either UNI or Evansville would probably have done well. In past years, they have had several big name teams from BCS conferences. This year, a mediocre Purdue and Texas teams are the only teams from the Top 6 conferences. Most of the top conferences now frown upon their members playing in the CBI, and risk getting beat by lowly midmajors.

Texas should be the overwhelming favorite to win it. They have been a far different team since Kabongo returned from his suspension, with wins over Iowa State, Oklahoma, and Baylor, and their only losses to the three top teams in the Big 12.

They draw well (about 11,000 average- 2nd only to Purdue among CBI teams), so they should be able to keep hosting as long as they remain in the CBI.

I checked the home crowds drawn by those big schools in last year's CBI..
Oregon State, Washington State, & Pitt drew poorly - well under half their usual home crowds....and often in the 2000-3000 range..
we can even do better if we get good fan support for our home games!

To me the CBI field appears strong. 6 of 16 teams have 20 wins already, and 2 bcs schools on top of that. Thats 8 quality teams and Houston is in with 19 wins. Seems like a good field to me.

In contrast only 8 of 32 teams have 20 wins in the CIT and it took uc irvine 35 games to get those 20. Weber State is a good team in that field at 26-6
