Bradley accepts bid to the CIT

Old Coach---In Dec. the season was fresh with lots of hope for the season. New team, new people, etc.---At the end of the season, all hope was lost for the season---Fraught with disappointment; for all intents & purposes, the season was over---Thank God.

So in December were people expecting a 22-10 record? I was actually expecting only 13 wins, so in spite of the conference finish in the last 6 or 7 games, I was pleasantly surprised with the overall record. I get it though... It's a half full or half empty thing.

        half full orhalf empty...
I am happy for each and every win we got - but I really wanted and expected for us to do better and compete for some spot in the final standings above 7-9th or a game above 10th..
Even tho some in the media and here are tickled pink with our 16-16 finish - I know our own players and coaches are quite disappointed we didn't do better and see this tournament as an opportunity to go out strong.

Old Coach---It's not a "half full-half empty" thing at all. It is what it is! Take off the rose colored glasses and take a hard look at what has/is really happening. I truly hope, and optimistically believe that things will get better----Much better. But, what has happened over the past few years including this most recent year cannot be ignored. And IMO this final CIT tournament situation is ridiculous after this last season.

What do you think is happening?

I'm not all that excited but I think it's fine to take the CBI/CIT when you beat expectations and/or have a young team. For example, ISU Red playing in this when they were picked 2nd is a bummer, just as it was with us 5 years ago. Our play down the stretch has been disappointing but I attribute that to starter fatigue due to a thin bench and I think the overall body of work is enough to say we've overachieved. Good for the optimists who expected better but few people I know predicted a .500 record this year.

I tried to look for an overall record poll but this was the best I could find. This is from before the season started and it asked how many home wins we'd get... 35 total votes and 32 of them said they'd be happy with less than 10 home wins (we won 12)--

            BRADLEY BASKETBALL
            -2 NCAA Title Games
            -3 NCAA Elite Eights
            -4 NCAA Sweet 16s
            -4 NIT Championships

I don't wear rose colored glasses at all. I see 16-16 as better than 7-25. Would 18-14 have been better? Absolutely. If they don't crap the bed against VA Tech and Drake that's where they would have ended up. That being said, they wouldn't have been in any better position than they are at 16-16. The difference has no bearing on the CIT, recruiting, or anything that will happen next season (for that matter). In that, I wouldn't feel any better or worse about the prospects for next season.

The only problem I have with this game is that we have no clue as to who we are playing yet. I'd be into paying the $20 if it was a decent club coming to town (say a George Mason or a mid-tier Power Six school). If it is something along the lines of Eastern Northwest State, not so much. Too bad we can't wait to sell tickets until we know who the game is against.

As to whether it is worthwhile to play, it definitely is. Any experience you can get for your returning players is worthy, as is a final chance to send off the seniors who put their sweat into playing for BU for their collegiate careers. I could care less who the coach is and the reasons for playing, just a nice "last ride" for what has been a decent season for this squad.

T I'm with you on this. I expected to also do better than I came to my senses and realized we only had one new recruit that would be of any help. We're gonna get there but still need another year or two to get Geno's recruits in here. Have faith it's gonna happen.IMO

                    Pretty obvious:
                    1. Bradley bought a home game.
                    2. Hoping for a couple of patsy wins to continue to make the season look better than it really has been.
                    3. Gives Reynolds and Wessler more opportunities to "spin" the greatness of our staff.
                    4. Playing at the RC in front of 2 or 3 thousand won't be as embarrasing as playing in front of a crowd of 2 or 3 thousand at the CC.
                    5. Guess here is that the closer we get to game day the better deal there will be on tickets - probably be a few freebies out there.

#2 on this list gets us close to the gold standard a few here state as a reason why the previous coach was wildly successful. Remember, we were told 20 wins is all that matters regardless of how we got there. 4 wins and we're there baby!

20 wins is 20 wins - and I won't complain.......and I am sure if we get there - we will see glowing positive press, unlike the negative stuff we saw when we got there previously

but wake me when we draw 8000 or even 3000...the timing is bad - students off and added on to the end of a disappointing finish
