MVC Championship- Wichita State vs. Creighton

The MVC Championship game is on CBS now.
It looks like Wichita State is gearing their defense mostly on stopping McDermott. He has not touched the ball yet in the first 3 1/2 minutes. It's too bad that Echenique has never developed any kind of a shot, or they would be a real Final Four possibility. So far Wichita hasn't scored, and both teanms are 0-12 from the floor, and it's 2-0 Creighton on a pair of FTs by Echenique.

Creighton wins, but the MVC should be really upset with CBS. The network switched away from the game to go to Michigan-Indiana, and never came back -- not even when the Shockers narrowed it to one point with 20 seconds left! I don't think I've ever seen that happen, and it's a whopping disrespect for the Valley, in my opinion.

I hope Elgin goes ballistic. I don't know if they switched it in Omaha or Wichita, but even so. What do you all think?

I believe the PJS writers said it was switched in the Big 10 markets. That would include Omaha, but not Wichita.

Something needs to be done. It's nice to have the game on a national network that reaches as many people as CBS does. But this kind of treatment, switching away to show a regular season Big Ten game, makes the MVC look like some grade-school level tournament. Embarrassing.

I noticed the attendance was reported as 16,659. With the number of all session tickets sold to the 2 teams, and all the hype suggesting record or near-record attendance for the final, this is less than I expected to see for the final. I also saw a lot of empty seats on the TV broadcast, suggesting the attendance included a number of people who bought tickets, but left before the final game.

FWIW, I thought the crowd sounded good on television. The Creighton contingent was most certainly loud.

I can almost accept the cut-away. Almost. (Though try to imagine them doing that to an ACC or Big 10 conference title game.) But not to return for the ending when it got tight? Incredibly disappointing for sure....
