  • Things could be worse

Things could always be worse- consider that Grambling State University is only 2 seasons removed from playing in the SWAC title game for an NCAA berth, and yesterday they completed perhaps the worst season in modern NCAA history- They finished 0-27 for the 2012-2013 season. Their scoring average was 49.6 ppg (easily the worst in D1), and they yielded 77.0 ppg, a 27.4 ppg average margin of loss. They have lost 17 games by 25 points or more despite playing in the SWAC- which is by far the worst rated conference in the country.
The SWAC has 7 of it's 10 teams over 300+ in RPI.

Yikes! They wouldn't even win too many games in D-II or D-III with this team! Nothing against their players who I'm sure tried their best. But obviously this team is not made up of D-I talent. Hopefully they can wins some games next year and start to rebuild from within.

Things could be worse, but at least they're not getting worse. They're getting better. Interesting thread title.....

Below observe the RPI rankings of the teams we beat and the teams we lost to...

            Wins:
            345
            326
            308
            305
            279
            272
            271
            211
            178
            178
            164
            150
            142
            123
            101
            79

            Losses:
            222
            211
            166
            150
            140
            123
            101
            79
            74
            74
            40
            40
            37
            37
            12

I see a lot of bad losses and a lot of wins against teams we had no business scheduling. 16-15 is what it is, but when you consider the competition we played, it's less than impressive.

I see a small step forward next year followed by a lot of minutes from players we haven't seen.

I admit I didn't read the article. I just saw a team that went winless this year, and hopefully they begin to turn things around towards respectablity next year. If they are the worst team in the worst conference in Division I, there's nowhere to go but up.

Maybe a stretch... but we're getting there. Keep up the great rebuild Geno! BU will be back soon!

I see we beat the teams we should, lost a few we shouldn't. Lost the games we should, won a few we shouldn't. That hasn't happened for several years.

Yes DB, but I believe that this is one of the few remaining statistics that some can use to continue to make their "Fallout" point.

What happened to this board being the positive oasis for all things Bradley? I thought recruits read this board and that we all want to put our best foot forward for the cause. Has the overall brand of this board changed without me knowing?

Upward and onward! Things could be a lot worse. The future bodes well for the program. The coaching pieces are in place, the facilities are top notch, the school continues to be an academic powerhouse and all we need is a few talented recruits and the sky's the limit.

                            Please do!

If I want to get depressed I can turn on the news, look at our leading economic numbers, unemployment rate and reports on children in this country starving. I come here for a respite to the daily grind. There's always been a bit of negativity but the amount being shoveled around is at an all time high without it being called out.
