  • Games Saturday, March 2

There is a full slate of 5 MVC games-

Note that the Wichita State at Creighton game starts at 1 PM and is on ESPN2 after the VCU-Butler game ends.

Speaking of VCU-Butler, the halftime score is a bit of a surprise- VCU has dominated #20 Butler, and leads by a whopping 45-21 margin at the half-

CU up on WSU 36-31 at the half. Doug McDermott picked up right where he left off in Peoria scoring half of the Creighton's 36 points in the first half. The second half won't be easy, but CU is only 20 minutes away from a Valley regular season championship.

VCU totally dominates a surprisingly slumping Butler team 84-52! VCU has been a bad matchup for Butler this season, and VCU finally gets its signature win of the season.

CU about to wrap up the MVC regular season title as they are now up 69-54 with 7 minutes remaining. CU is on a 14-2 run right now. Surprising the game is this one sided right now.

Doug McDermott has now scored 41 but they are trying hard even with a 16 pt lead and under a minute to play - to keep getting McDermott more shots when obviously holding the ball would be the reasonable and classy thing to do...

CU wins 91-79. Doug was taken out of the game soon after his last basket in order to give him a chance for the crowd to recognize him for what will probably be his final home game as a Bluejay. In this case, I guess this would be warranted, especially in front of the home crowd. Most other times though, yes, holding the ball would be the classy thing to do.

Well WSU was pressing the whole time at the end...it's not like they were playing straight up defense. I doubt Marshall cares....he's going to be a jerk regardless of how another team plays.

Also noticed that WSU shot 52%...but CU shoots 70%

He does, but again Doug is a once a decade or two type of player, who has meant a ton to the fans of Creighton and to their community the last three years. I doubt one game will influence Marshall that much. But if he has an issue with Greg McDermott having his son score baskets until the very end, I think that would be the least of Marshall's worries. If I were him, I would be far more concerned that his team could not stop Doug, or any of the other Creighton players from scoring at will today.

I saw the whole game, and had no problem with McDermott being in as long as he was. He was incredible....again....and I was pulling for him to get 40 at the end. Until the final two minutes, the game really wasn't decided. He was having a great game on ESPN2 and in what may be his last home game. Ride it, enjoy it. The Oladipos and Plumlees and Trey Burkes are on national TV night after night after night after night getting promoted and oogled over. 40 gets more publicity than 39.

Doug had his day today. He was great. The best I've seen in the Valley in a long time, probably since Hersey. I hope he has a great NCAA tourney....after we thump the Jays in Arch Madness.

Hersey was never in the game still taking shots when BU was up 15, 20, or 25 just trying to get more points...NEVER..

Hard to believe ISU's Jon Ekey has become so ineffective....what's up??
he's got only one game out of his last 18 games where he's scored in double digits...
averaging only about 4 ppg in that span since the Christmas holidays
