All these mascots are lame. To my knowledge, Indiana University doesn't have a mascot and they do just fine marketing-wise. I'm sure there are plenty of other schools without mascots, too.

It doesn't make a team generic. So the little kids don't get to be patted on the head by a creepy sweaty student in a costume. Boo-freakin'-Hoo. I knew the Bobcat from the late 90's and I can tell you I wouldn't want him touching my children.

But if I HAD to pick one of these mascots, I kinda like the super hero. Not any specific super hero, though. I'm picturing just a kid in a cape and suspenders. Like this....

        This is a joke

I was reaaly hoping this was a freakin' joke......................until I got the e-mail from BU about voting for the mascot.

I personally think all the choices are ridiculous and embarrassing. But hey, I didn't offer any suggestions so who am I to complain

Sadly, now I must vote. If for no other reason than to try to keep all of these laughable mascots as far away from campus as possible.

Personally, I'm for no mascot at all! If the stupid NCAA doesn't like Braves then I say screw them! I would protest the whole d@mn thing by going with no mascot and publicizing every chance I got as to why we have no mascot. At least this way "Braves" will live on.

"Every college campus in the world has gargoyle's. "

By that reasoning every college campus has squirrels as well making it commonplace. I think the gargoyle would be unique and not representing a little rodent like animal running around.

I agree that obviously the best solution would be to have a "brave" but this is not possible anymore...

          I like that homer reference!!

            VOTE

I urge all the ant-squirrel/anti-mascot people to VOTE NOW!

Vote early and often and loudly! Don't just vote but also add comments as to why it is unacceptable. Let them know we want no mascot at all -- if for no other reason than a silent protest to the NCAA!

VOTE NO MASCOT AT ALL! PLEASE!

I was for a "fighting" or "flying" squirrel for a long time. I'm not sure at this time.

In support of the Squirrel I think it helps to forget the squirrel as it seems many are picturing. Remember this would be a characture....not some cute, fuzzy little creature we all see scampering around our backyards/campuses.

A good artist/graphic designer could create an image of a fighting/flying squirrel that would be a mkt boom and somewhat menacing (without scaring the kids )

On the flip side amny of us grew up calling the neighborhood geek a squirrel. (sorry Squirrel) The word conjures up more negatives then positives...."that guy is squirrely"

Bradley University Home of the Braves and BRAVEheart the Fighting Squirrel.

I'm leaning towards NO mascot.....as long as we are the Braves the link to something Indian related doesn't allow for anything other than that (Indian related) to connect.

                  JMHO...

                      My Gosh,
Doesn't my alma mater have better things to do than this stupid stupid email survey?

I really don't care...as long as we're still the "Braves" whether we have a mascot or not really doesn't matter to me.

The Squirrel thing might be fun...maybe you could have my favorite halftime show of all time "Frisbee Dog" chase it around the arena.

Are we talking a real squirrel like the UGA Bulldog or an idiot Freshman in a squirrel suit? This makes a huge difference.

I'd much prefer a real squirrel that would be allowed to run free in Carver and chase the germ infested children away from the court during pre-game.

I wish they would listen to my wonderful ideas but then again I'm a bit drunk right now so maybe not...

                      Cheers,
                      VromanFan

I was going to support no mascot at all, but I like Vroman fan's idea. Let's just let a live squirrel run around at the games. That would be awesome.

I guess it makes sense that the guy in charge of this, with a name like "Griffin" would like the "Gargoyle".
