Well I think Coach K shouldn't be yelling at the fans....I'm sure he's been called every name in the book...
On the other hand....he makes a great point about getting his team off the floor and having a roped off way for the team to get to their locker room.
If a fan shoved,slapped,or punched a player and things got ugly...someone could get hurt and/or suspended that really was a retaliation for something that should be somewhat controlled -
There is a difference between being subjected to insults from students in the stands, and being physically confronted, provoked, or assaulted by students running onto the court and physically encountering the opposing players and coaches.
Players endure lots of taunts and name-calling everywhere they go, and rarely does that ever bother opposing players and coaches. The security did a good job escorting the Duke players and coaches down the court to the opposite end where their exit was, but then as they tried to get to the locker room, there was a moment where students pushed into the line of Duke players. Again, I think the security did a great job, but the potential was there for a nasty incident.
As much as I dislike Coach K sometimes, I agree with him here. The very minimum they deserve is to be protected from physical harassment. All visiting coaches and players deserve to be safe.
This YouTube video shows photos of the Duke players getting caught in a crowd of students as they try to get off the court.
And there are several other videos of the end of the game available on YouTube, and none of them appear to show Coach K or any of the Duke players yelling at the fans or provoking anything, but some of them clearly have fans yelling obscenities of all kinds at the Duke coaches and players.Comment

Fans shoild not get in the face or taunt players or coaches. They are there to play a basketball game. Let them play. The fans are just there to watch and root for their team. That is all! I have never liked it where fans become so rude that a player or coach is in jeopardy. The fans should be immediately tossed. That is why a couple years ago one of the pro players went into the stands after a fan who tossed a soda on him without provocation. Now the player maybe should have shown restraint but that fan should have been thrown out but they made it look like it was the players fault. No!!!! The fan should not even be doing anything. Ok i am done. off my soapbox!!!Comment

no matter how badly he might have perceived the treatment - Coach K, by uttering expletives and the F-word at fans - has to know it was not smart and not classy - Bobby Knight certainly learned it the hard way as it was the trigger that tanked his career...
for people to dedicate huge proportions of their existence, and even entire websites & twitter accounts just to taunting Coach K or any other legend in his field...must mean he is so far superior to anything they will ever see in their lifetimes - and thus K can be satisfied those bozos doing the jeering are well below him on the theoretic evolutionary scale..Comment

I agree. When I get mad at any of the players or coaches i always ask myself, " could i do any better". That usually shuts me up!!!
