Call me crazy...but the only player on our team I think could last a minute in the league is DSE.

Also TP if he was 6'11" because he has swag

Well said FWO. I think respectful criticism of college players is fine as long as it doesn't cross the line. Unfortunately, determining what that line is varies from person to person. Hence, the problem.

FWIW, I think this site does a great job in moderating this player criticism to prevent things from getting too personal and out of control.

For all the disagreements and disputes with the mods, at the same time, most of us greatly appreciate what you guys do day in and day out to make this site truly awesome! It's kind of like our daily bread to feed our sports minds & souls.

I think an honest evaluation of our current team/players is totally fair.

These are grown men being paid $30,000 dollars a year to play basketball and go to school.

I feel it is justifiable to say, "I think this player hasn't developed the last few years like I had hoped."

That isn't bashing at all.


You all want to complain about playing on Thursday's but don't want to discuss the biggest reason why.

Yes sir. People are far too sensitive. Do you think that there is no honest discussion and evaluation of players/coach/state of the program on every other message board in the country?

If a player isn't performing, the fans reserve every right to call him out for it. And an honest person will give that same player all the credit he deserves if he IS performing.

The people that complain about people "bashing" players are the same ones that chastise people for cheering loudly during games.

I am one who complains about those who bash players BUT I am also one who stands often and cheers loudly at games and never have chastised anyone in my life for doing so...
I think maybe you have that statement backwards...those who love the players and are offended by harsh criticism of them
are THE VERY PEOPLE who go to the games and cheer the loudest.

I have frequently seen and heard the players themselves and their families saying that they are hurt by such harsh and unfair criticism...and that they view the criticism they see on message boards as ignorant ramblings by uninformed people who think they are more important to the situation than they are.

That is true. Most of you are uniformed. Luckily you have my opinions to keep things straight.

I do see negativity on this board but that is not what will drive me from this board. What will drive me out is the consistent hijacking of threads to talk about the past and a continuous he said she said of our last coaching regime. I was a big JL fan but am well past the firing. I will say that I will hold certain people accountable if things go in the wrong direction in the long term. That's just the nature of the beast but hopefully things will go forward in a positive way for the program.

This post most closely resembles my feelings. I to liked JL and all he did for BU but,it was time for him to go if we were going to compete for titles and I think that's what most of us want. When you hire a favorite son it makes the break up that much harder but it's done and over I wish we could move on. I back Geno 100% but if in 2 more years we don't see results than a change will probably happen and that is the nature of the beast.
On another subject anyone who rips Dave Snell doesn't have a clue what he means to BU and the basketball program. He is a true professional even though I don't agree with 3" more inches on JE would put him in the LEAGUE.I do think JE will make an excellent coach someday if he chooses to go that route.

If players and their families are hurt by criticism they need some thicker skin. Good thing their kid didn't go play ball at a B10 or Big East school. My point is that by playing big time college basketball, you are opening yourself up to criticism by fans. Albeit unfair or deserved, it is going to happen.

I don't know if you can tell from up there on your high horse, but by trying to protect the players on message boards kind of makes it seem like you think you are more important to the situation than you actually are.

We are so very lucky to have such a professional as our play by play guy! If you can't see that, then you're probably are not a sports fan. You do not even have to like The Braves to appreciate a man with such talent. Go ahead and listen to some of the other Valley's play by play guys and tell me who has the best far and away. So far the other team that has a decent pair that I liked listening to is ISUgreen.

I had no problem with Snell saying what he did....it's really not that big of a deal.

In the same token ripping into what someone says doesn't mean you are ripping into him personally...two different things IMO.....

Maybe it is just anecdotal, so I concede that point. The thought was that the people that are sensitive about players being criticized and critiqued by fans are in the same boat as the people that think it is rude to be loud and vocal at games.

Don't know of anyone near where I sit when I'm at the games who are against loud and vocal fans, that's part of being a fan, but I do know some fans who are a pain in the you know what.

I would also like to make it public I won't be pursuing a professional playing career either.
