Senior night for Creighton -- Coach McDermott "mum" on whether his son will be back..

This story also notes that Grant Gibbs might petition NCAA for an extra - 6th year - even though he is completely unlike Sam Singh or Will Egolf -
in that one of his years was lost due to a TRUE REDSHIRT that he voluntarily chose in 2008-2009

Even when he left Gonzaga the news at that time mentioned that he had some injuries like all players but NEVER mentioned the injuries as any part of his decision to leave Gonzaga...
that the reason for the transfer was homesick...and that the injuries simply put deeper into the playing rotation and he wasn't getting enough playing time and was looking for a place where he'd get to play more at point guard!
"Unhappy and far from home in Spokane, Wash., he decided to transfer
and wanted to play for a good program in the midwest."

.. injuries put Gibbs behind a couple of other players in the rotation,
and he never got to play the point as much as he wanted to, he said.
"Looking back on it, maybe I didn't look at the situation as closely as I should have coming out of high school.
It was my dream school. Now, I feel Creighton is the best place for me.''

Metro Sports Report - Complete Sports Coverage of all Cedar Rapids and Marion High Schools, Kirkwood Community College and Cedar Rapids Kernels Baseball

He played his RS Freshman season in 2009-2010 at Gonzaga...
then when transferring to Creighton in 2010-2011 he sat out another year due to the transfer - and played in 2011-2012 & 2012-2013.
In all three of the seasons he's played - he's had NO season-ending injury and didn't miss any games to injury..
and was quoted in numerous articles saying he just wanted to go somewhere closer to home and get a "new start" and a shot at more playing time.
      - in the Egolf & Singh cases - both redshirt seasons were lost due to NO other cause but injury... so Gibbs is a totally different situation - so we'll see...

I know this is a stretch, but I actually like our chances of beating Drake and Creighton coming from the 8 seed better than I would have liked our odds of beating UNI as the 6 seed.

Not a stretch at all OC, other than it would have been nice not to slide down 2 spots. We looked silly running around trying to cover UNI this year. Creighton has proven they're very beatable down the stretch too.

Aren't chairs of some sort provided down there? It ought to be the least they could do what with the low level referees we get year to year! Do not forget there are WHITE CASTLE HAMBURGERS down there!!!!!
There has got to be some place we can go to have fun!

                        CBSSports.com's Conference Tournament preview-

Jeff Borzello picks Evansville to win it all in Arch Madness. I respectfully disagree. I think it will be Creighton- superior depth makes a big difference in a 3game/3 day tournament.

So you are saying we have a chance!

                            Oh YEAH!

Interesting that he thinks the 6th-place team has 2 of the top 5 players in the conference. What a disappointing season for them!
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12
