  • Geno= Coach of the year?

Could or should Geno be up for Valley coach of the year?

Picked near the bottom of Valley and coming off last season, might Geno be in the discussion?

he's in the hunt given that every team in the Valley has struggled at times and there's no runaway winner...
sure hope you're not jinxing him....
we have to stay out of Thursday -- right now we're sitting tied for a Thursday spot

No jinx, but just a thought. In a year when no one is super hot or super consistent he might just have a shot.

Has the Coach of the Year ever been a team in the lower half of the conference?

Good question. Have any deserved it like this?

I love Geno... I love Bradley... But Marshall should win this in a landslide.

              He probably will.

I guess it's nice to be doing well enough to discuss though.

Marshall wins it in a landslide at this point.

Bradley would have to finish 4 or 5 to get any votes.

I am not sure it's a landslide - he was picked 4th but very close to 3rd & 2nd and he has a very deep and talented lineup with experience, three juco All Americans, and a BCS transfer..
BU was picked 9th and if we can finish 10-8 and challenge for 4th or 3rd..then I think Geno deserves COY - giving him his 3rd COY in a row and making it a trifecta of BU coaches to get their conference's award

Let's see how the year pans out but right now I have him in 3rd place behind Marshall and Lansing.

If the Shock win the Valley, it s/b Marshall, but 2 more losses in the league, and 2 more wins for Geno and it will be a tough call!

I'd agree with this, and a small run in the MVC tourney could help, depending on when they vote.

The award is made BEFORE the MVC Tourney even starts..
Gregg Marshall was announced as the 2012 winner on the Thursday morning before the tourney games began
