Great chance to stay out of Thursday!

BU wins by 12 on ISUB
EU losses to CU after leading by 5 at the half
and ISU breaks down in the last minute to WSU

3 way tie with 1 team playing on Thursday!

Just got finished watching the ending of this game. The COLOSSAL choke job by ISU couldn't have happened to a better team! Thank you Jackie Carmichael for the stupidest flagrant foul I have seen in a long time!

Have fun playing on Thursday night Redbirds!

Now let's not get too cocky, we still could be right there with them. However, I do wish to thank WSU for getting it done last night

well ISU had an 8-10 pt lead almost the entire 2nd half then in the final 4 minutes - Wichita came from 10 pts down to win...
the 'Birds were probably fatigued as ISU subbed only 3 guys total and only 2 guys more than 5 minutes.
Meanwhile Wichita subbed five guys and four of them played 11 to 17 minutes.

I think one of the main factors is what we've been talking about the last few weeks -
the teams that use only a couple subs or that get little or no contribution from the bench - fail down the stretch..

and the teams that spread the playing time out have a tremendous advantage in the last 4-5 minutes of any tough game like this...
You gotta give Gregg Marshall the kudos for outcoaching Dan Muller in this one...

Marshall was willing to accept getting outscored by the ISU starters while he was subbing in bench players - falling behind
by as much as 14 in the 1st half and 11 in the 2nd half...
Note many intervals in the game when ISU had all five starters in while WSU had subs...

but in the final 10 minutes of the game, Wichita subbed 18 times while ISU subbed only four times, and the ratio is 7 to 1 subs in the final 3:30 when Wichita made up an 8-pt deficit and outscored ISU 15-6.
I know some of that is driven by offense-defense subs and sparing players with a lot of fouls - but it's also a strategic plan that I think hurt ISU.

How deep must Anthony Cousin be in Muller's doghouse - the guy was one of their key players for two years and started half the games since he's been there - and he doesn't even get in this game?

Muller seems to be doing it his own way, either throwing out the textbook of "what should be done," or not knowing that it exists. As he finds his way, mistakes will be made that will be questioned. Hope he survives that.

As for the game, what a shame that ISU had to lose like that. What. A. Shame.

I'm not getting too cocky. It was more me enjoying the moment. I know that ISU is more than capable of playing their way out of Thursday night. But to lose a game like that this late in the year does not bode too well for ISU.

Right, but even with the limited substitutions, ISU still had no excuse blowing that kind of lead that late in the game. The flagrant foul was bad enough, but that did not lose them the game. Turning the ball over on lazy passes and not defending the three did lose the game for them. They may be tired, but so are players from other teams at this time of the year. They needed to find another 30 seconds of energy to seal the win.

Regarding Cousin, I understand Muller is trying to send a message when he benches players. But unless Cousin committed a crime off campus, I don't know what he did that warranted Muller benching him. Soemthing tells me that Muller will wear out his welcome really quick if he continues benching good players during big games like this.

Anthony Cousins does not bring a whole lot. Ask any Redbird fan and they are not upset about him not playing a whole lot. He played a lot of minutes his first year because the team was not very good. Last year he got started over by a freshman. Not sure where you guys get that he is a big time player.
