and ...given all the stuff we have seen lately on the flagrant and intentional fouls - what are we doing??
This is a game we should definitely have won -
Well we can kick ourselves for inbounding the ball to Tyshon, but he has been around long enough now where he should be able to make that FT. I still Walt's foul on their layup with 21 seconds left was the biggest factor, and what can you say about that? That's something he usually would not do. Unfortunately it happens to the best of them every so often. And don't get me wrong. I'm pretty upset we lost this game the way we did, but maybe this will be a lesson learned for this team in the future. We gotta get the game at UIC this weekend!

our bench did absolutely nothing tonight except pick up costly intentional fouls
...they went to the FT line 44 times, and against a team we should have matched up against pretty good down low - we shoot 28 3-pt attempts..
we actaully did OK (39%) but we still need to establish a low post game and do what hey did - foul out the big guys.
They also got too many key rebounds....
Most of Geno's recruits were found on the fly, so to speak. His first year, he did not have a lot of time to find recruits, and this past year he only had a couple of slots to fill anyway. I think Bell and Pickett have the potential to blossom next year, but they obviously still have a lot of work to do. But I think they still have a chance to contribute a lot next year. Geno also has done plenty to improve the players he inherited to the point that WL and DSE are all-Valley players. They might not be his guys per se, but they certainly have taken their games to the next level under him.

Now next year is the critical year for Geno as he will have six or seven new players coming in, some with very good potential from what we are hearing. But it will take time for all of the new players to gel, and that's why next year can be a bit shaky, especially early on. But if Bradley is still struggling like this in the middle of Geno's fourth season, then there may be bigger issues that need to be addressed. But I can't be disappointed in Geno's coaching job this year as he has taken a team with very little depth to potentially an above .500 record. And it's the depth issue that hopefully will be addressed next year. But like anything, I'll wait until things play out next year before assessing where this program is headed.

We might have the lowest basketball IQ of any team I have ever seen.

Only we could somehow blow that.....

        not pointing fingers....but

        1. Will slapping the ball on the rebound to the THREE POINT line where Carter got another look for the win..

        2. Will's 5th foul

        3. TP

        4. SS

        5. Plays where we tried to get the ball inside to JP and SS...
We had a poor basketball IQ tonight. But if we were so bad the whole season, how have we more than doubled our win total this year? I just think we need better athletes and maybe some slightly smarter players to take us to the next level. But I'm still proud of this team despite tonight's effort, which admittedly was not too good late in the second half. I think we still may be afraid when it comes to closing out games on the road, which we should not be this late in the season especially against a very mediocre Drake team. Though we do know they have talent as their upset home wins have shown. But tonight was not one of those nights were Drake looked like they could beat anyone in the Valley, but give them credit for doing so. They certainly had some help!

Wow, espn gamecast told me we won by 2 at the end of regular time, and I get home from work and find there was overtime and we got spanked in it? Sad day.

Sickening. BU had a tough weekend overall in sports and this trend continues tonight. Losing must become unacceptable for all BU sports teams. The Administration must ensure that our teams at least have a competitive .500 record again at the least so that we will be a candidate for conference realignment improvement. The clock ticks. Coach DeRose can only do so much.

I think one loses all credibility when we look to blame our bad play in tonight's game on something from four years ago..

So who or what do you blame it on?

I agree if we look back at the previous 2head coaches mo went above .500 in his 3rd year and les not until his 4 year you got to get your guys in place to make an accurate, fair, and impartial assessment

And I also cite Dana Altman who took 4 years to get Creighton to the NIT. Also, Coach K took until his 4th season to get Duke into the NCAA Tournament, though he got them into the NIT his first year. Then took a step back for two more years of under .500 teams before that 4th season. And Tom Crean had a few "mediocre" years to say the least before he got Indiana to the number one spot this year. It happens to the best of coaches as well when they take new jobs to rebuild teams.

Bravesfan, I'm behind Geno 100%, but he is the present coach so under who else would DSE and WL take their game to the next level.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

I'm not talking about previous coaches here. I'm sure they would have played well under Les as well. But I was responding to a poster who was asking how Geno's recruits have done so far. I said that a couple of his recruits have the potential to do well, and that Geno has coached up the players he has inherited as well, some who are playing better than others. But I was not comparing him to the previous coach here.

                              I wasn't either.

ha, ha ...so you are starting to get some suspicion that there is an answer to this question...
