  • Wichita State = Bubble Team

Shockers drop game at SIU. Wichita State playing their way onto the bubble after dropping 3 straight including a game to the 220-plus RPI Salukis. Wichita State very well could be in trouble considering they still have road games at Illinois State, Indiana State and Creighton.

Unless they finish strong, they are looking at having to win the MVC Tournament to get a bid. They have given the selection committee a pretty strong reason now to exclude them.

But with their depth, I do believe they can win the MVC tournament.

Agreed, losing to Creighton is acceptable, one other road loss is probably acceptable as well, but 4 losses in the Valley including a home loss to someone other than Creighton takes them from a potential bubble team to one that needs the automatic bid...

And anything gained from a victory over Creighton is gone with a home loss

After Marshall continued to press us in the 2nd half when we were 20 points down I can see now the basketball gods have decided to take him down , if I recall they have not won since that game, hope they continue their losing ways as I will never pull for them again as I hate coaches that run the scores up on teams when they know the games is virtually over, hope he is enjoying losing games they were expected to win.

IMO, they now have to win the Tourney to get a bid. Last nights loss was a dagger.

They're looking like a strong #1 seed for the NIT...

IMO its DI basketball and the players/coaches should be able to handle it.

and they are in our conference its not Duke vs. Grambling

and a 34 point win looks alot better to his bosses than a 15 point win

I'm only irked by Marshall because he whined so much when Chris Roberts hit that single, late "steak shot". (Under a previous coach and team)

Of course, I know he will whine again when Kharma strikes and we blow him out.

By now, I'm conditioned to treat his whining as music, sweet music.

SIU scored 20 points in about 7 minutes time to close out the first half last night. With the 3 point shot, there is no really safe lead anymore. Maybe he wanted his bench pressing to get them a feel for what it's like out there and was using it as a teaching moment. I think you need to find another ax to grind on.

If I remember correctly a few years ago, Bradley had a sizable lead against WSU in Peoria and a Brave decided to take a 3 with nothing left on the shot clock in the final seconds to give the fans free food somewhere. If I were the Coach, I wouldn't have let that happen. I don't think Marshall would have either.

I'm pretty sure Les was ticked and apologized to Marshall about that at the end of the game...

On the other hand...have you ever been to the Lariat Club?....you would know why we were all excited

What happened in Peoria several seasons ago was C.Roberts was dribbling out the final seconds of the game and was 35ft. out from the basket and the crowd was urging him to shoot because of the promotion and he finally did and the shot went in and no way was he suppose to shoot , Marshall was pisse- off about it but this was not even close to what he just did as everyone on the court knew we were not going to come back and win, well what goes around comes around and I am happy to see him getting it stuck right up his as-. Hope he enjoys the feeling.

yes - and all of that was teamed with the fact that Bradley was pretty good at that time and Wichita was bad...and guys like Sean Ogirri, et al had agitated and caused a lot of problems there... and there was still some disruptions on their team - and Marshall was taking some heat for their issues (he's since turned things around nicely)
but he kinda went off on BU & CRob thinking we were trying to rub it in at a time they were already hurting

Not according to Joe Lunardi, at least before last night's loss. He had them as a 6 seed before last night, which means they should still safely be in, for now. Conference tournament upsets will go a long way towards whether WSU is in, but with two easy home games coming up for them, they should be fine for now. One more bad road loss won't help them though.
