The game on a Sunday afternoon against Northern Iowa after one of Peoria's biggest snowstorms, I think around New Years 1999.

I was at BU from 83-87' during the best stretch of BU basketball at the Carver. All the games were an enjoyable experience. The ritual of downing a few Old Styles at the house, partying a bit while rolling down the hill, getting there in time to go to the bathroom and grab a beer before the tip off. I believe the JL end to end play in '86 to beat ISU has to be tops in my book! Oh the Reagan years were fun!

So when Bradley and the Civic Center people announced that the game had been moved up to 3:00pm from it's scheduled 7:00 PM start to try to avoid the worst of the accumulating snow, most fans were still working or already snowed in at home. I would not have attempted it if I didn't own a 4-wheel drive. Though the announced attendance was 8,091, only about 800 people were there. The BU win snapped an 11 game MVC losing streak.

PEORIA, Ill. ? Bradley senior guard Andrew Warren scored 20 of his game-high 23 points in the second half and the Braves (7-16, 1-11 MVC) picked up their first Missouri Valley Conference win of the season, 69-61, against Creighton Wednesday afternoon at a sparsely populated Carver Arena.

I obtained a DVD of this game (from the Creighton feed), and believe me, even on tv the place sounded louder than if it was full! The real diehard fans showed up for this game, and they were going to be loud no matter what. And being the end of an 11 game losing streak made the place sound even more electric!

My favorite memories of the Civic Center were very reminiscent of this past week's comeback win against ISU. The best for me were in 1994 involving big comeback wins against top 25 Tulsa, SIU and ODU in the NIT. The crowd for the ODU game was deafening and was standing most of the game! So we know the CC can be loud as it has been more recently.

The DePaul game in 2007 was great as well.

Super Time In Carver; Super Bowl 19!

Super Bowl XIX Jan. 20, 1985 Stanford (Calif.) Stadium San Francisco 38, Miami 16

A friend of mine from my Iowa State college days was asst manager for the PCC back in 1985. I usually hosted
Super Bowl parties for my friends at my home, but, the parties were getting bigger and bigger.

              Too big for my home.

I was talking to my friend about this and he was able to line me up for the
Chief's Club room under the grandstands for my Super Bowl Party, complete with bar/bartenders, big screen tvs,
kitchen etc! I ended up printing Super Bowl Ticket invitations for the 200+ people I invited to the party!

Being a 49er fan, this was the biggest and best Super Bowl party I have ever
hosted, capped off by the 49ers win over Miami!

At some point in the party, after the game had ended, we broke out a couple 4 wheelers used by the Peoria HOCKEY team and
were racing around the concourse underneath the grandstands...

Don't remember too much more after that, but, heard the next day the rest of the party was SUPER!

Just watching the Hawk for 4 years. IMO, the best player in BU history and a class act to go along with it.

From where I've sat the last 24-25 years I always enjoyed the heated rivalries with the opposing coaches. Most of those years they sat where BU does now...but the likes of JD Barnett, Tubby Smith,Donewald,Bender,Stallings,Herrin,Tom Davis, McDermott UNI and CU,Altman,Royce Walton,Crews,Smithson, Turgeon,Eldon Miller, Bruce Weber,Spoon, and Hinson interaction on the sidelines with officials....and a few of the fans.....were great.......some very vocal fans usually let those guys knew how much they were loved here at Bradley
