I've given to St. Jude and fully support cancer awareness and research, but I do think all-pink uniforms are a bit much. Studies show the color pink can make you soft, and this is a big conference game. I've heard Iowa football paints its visitor's locker room pink.

???Pink is thought to have a calming effect. One shade known as "drunk-tank pink" is sometimes used in prisons to calm inmates. Sports teams sometimes paint the opposing teams locker room pink to keep the players passive and less energetic.
Pink trim or shoelaces I'm fine with, but it seems there's a reason why other teams don't do this. It probably amounts to nothing, but I wouldn't want to risk it. There are other effective ways to promote awareness.

and even if people choose NOT to give or be charitable - we should never judge them - as they may have factors we don't know of that truly make them the neediest...

This says they will be auctioning of the pink uniforms with a silent auction during game.

I know I've been saving up my dimes and nickels in an attempt to get one of them.

FWIW, Creighton is wearing the pink jerseys again against Bradley tomorrow. If I'm not mistaken, in the game last year, Bradley did something like pink shoelaces as a way to participate as well. I also think Ford and the assistants wore pink ties.

Yes, pink has been tied to breast cancer, but Creighton says the event is to raise money for all forms of cancer research. Obviously, Teresa McDermott (Greg's wife and Doug's mom) is pretty involved in the whole cause since she is a breast cancer survivor, but last year Mac specifically called for men to get prostate screenings too.

In addition to auctioning off the shirts, there are multiple booths set up at the game for people to donate money to cancer research as well. I'd say this event is to raise money for cancer research, not to just raise awareness.

I think its a great cause and I'm glad to hear that Bradley is doing something similar. I admit that I was a bit hesitant to how it would all look going into last year's event, but I was very pleasantly surprised by how it all turned out. I suspect that you guys that are a bit hesitant will feel the same way after the game that you do it as well.

If it helps one person in any way or raises even $1, IMO it's worth it.

or did I miss something and we are adopting Pink permanently and as a fourth color?

Why can we get pink jerseys for one game, but our road uniforms don't match our home uniforms?

Wow, created a firestorm by daring to not support pink uni's and being jaded of orgs jumping on the SBK cross promotion bandwagon....

Sorry.... Just the way I feel....

Would be nice for BU to donate $10 per fan who comes out to the ISUB vs BU Pink Jersey Game...
Or perhaps $20 donation for any fan attending this game in excess of their avg MVC home attendance to date in 2012-13 season?

The 2012-13 MVC Pick Em Contest will go PINK in support of Breast Cancer

There are more common (prostate) and deadlier (lung, colon, pancreatic) forms of cancer than breast cancer. I guess I don't understand why the focus is put on "pink nights".

If you're going to hold a "pink night", I don't see how you can not hold a "blue night".

It is what it is and I'd have to say there are two things way greater then PC and that is the connection and marketability of mothers. I say support what you can and want to and be positive about those things that help others regardless.

I know I do not like supporting organizations that tend to use a high percent of their revenue on fund raising.

Fans are being urged to wear pink instead of their usual choice...

personally - I do not own a single thing that is pink and I suspect I am not alone..

Let's do a little informal survey here -- anyone who wants is free to respond...

QUESTION: What predominant color are you going to wear
to Bradley's home game vs. Indiana State on Feb. 16?

                              Answer:
                              a) I'm gonna wear pink
                              b) I have to go out and buy something pink but I'll try to get all pinked up
                              c) I will be sticking with my usual RED
                              d) Whatever comes out of the closet when I reach in there

I won't say which answer I have already chosen but I wonder if anyone can guess
