Bradley men to wear pink uniforms

Women's sports do pink. It's a disease specific to women. (Breast cancer) I've never seen a women's team support prostate cancer and I get that. In fact very few mens' teams do in general- Yet before we throw some tiny blue prostate cancer ribbon on our jersey's, we wear all pink? I have no problem with the pink thing as it supports a good cause but the lack of the "blue" especially with it's association to the mens' aspect of things with men's basketball is frustrating IF you're gonna pick a "color".
Doesn't need to be gender related at all. How bout a cancer awareness game with cancer survivors without gender-related criteria? Is that too broad of a spectrum?
How many people die every year from smoking cigarettes? Heart disease? Suicide? Have those not reached the momentum necessary to draw a crowd at a basketball game? Never once heard of any one of those things drawing attention for a sporting event. Not picking on BU, but really.WE WANT HEEMSKERK!

Finally found it, Johnny Cash, "a Boy Named Sue"
And he said: "Son, this world is rough
And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough
And I knew I wouldn't be there to help ya along.
So I give ya that name and I said goodbye
I knew you'd have to get tough or die
And it's the name that helped to make you strong."

Are you guys kidding? You're against cancer fundraising and awareness.
I lost both parents to cancer and my sister is currently fighting it. This is disgusting to read.
I hope none of you have to deal with cancer. It's a destructive and debilitating disease. You guys have gone way over the line. When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.

I am sorry about those loved ones in your family with cancer. It is a terrible disease, and everyone is in favor of more research and progress toward finding cures. I don't think anyone here is opposed to supportive events. But I can understand that there might be fans who don't see the reason to incorporate it so thoroughly into a college basketball game.

Give me a break. Because we think BU wearing pink jerseys is a bad idea, we are FOR cancer? Don't be so sanctimonious.
No one here is against cancer fundraising. I am a big believer of knowing about the organization you are donating your time and money. I have my own thoughts on Komen, and would never give them a dime. I have given plenty of time and money to the American Cancer Society and St. Jude along with more localized charities and trusts.
The idea of cancer awareness is a joke, because everyone is aware that cancer exists. That is just semantics.
And don't make this a pissing match of who has lost loved ones to cancer. If you asked everyone in Carver Arena to raise their hand if they had lost someone close to them from cancer, everyone would have their hands raised.
Jeez.

Also, FYI, breast cancer does affect men too, not just women. Its estimated that over 2000 men will be diagnosed this year and 400 will die. See for yourself: http://www.cancer.org/cancer/breastc...key-statistics
Finally, I'm glad that Bradley is one of the first men's college basketball teams to do this. The NFL and MLB area already on board with their players wearing pink accessories. Bradley and Peoria have strong ties to breast cancer, so it makes sense to support this cause. JG battled breast cancer hardly missing any work in the process. Susan Komen was from Peoria. It makes sense and its the right thing to do.

why?? some people sure are trying hard to find something to pick a fight about if you are riled just because someone fails to like the pink uni thing...
nobody is against cancer or curing cancer but there are serious doubts if any of this pink promo stuff does much for cancer...

Here is the problem with the NFL's "cancer awareness"...

Please. What do you have against the people suffering from autism, Alzheimer's, school violence, ALS, diabetes, suicide, racism, MS, and all of the other conditions and events that have caused loss and suffering? The debate tactic of trying to make anyone who disagrees with you seem heartless is one of the things that has gotten this country into the mess we have today. Unless you are actively advocating that Bradley wear a different color uniform every game to support a different cause than your hypocrisy and sanctimony are appalling. We have all lost friends and family from many causes. Many of us give time and money to support charities. We just don't all think the color of a sports uniform makes a difference.

For the record, I don't think that problem exists with these college cancer events. I know there are college teams that auction off the one-time-use pink uniforms, and all the proceeds from those sales go directly to the charities.
Creighton does this-
Creighton men's basketball will wear pink jerseys for its Jan. 28 game vs. Bradley. Learn how to support a great cause, honor a friend, and buy a jersey and personalized shooting shirt.
a lot of women's basketball teams do it, too-
and a lot of women's volleyball teams do the same-
I wish Bradley would auction off the uniforms, but I haven't seen any report yet that they will.

And partnering with Komen too!
Terrible all around.

It's getting to be so frequent with breast cancer, seems like just another ploy to get more butts into BU's MBB Game seats...
Sheesh.....
,
And another one..

I will say it again, this is a disgusting thread. If you don't want the men to wear pink, that's fine. But don't make claims that it's a ploy to get people to the game. Don't lie about who cancer effects, and don't say it's terrible all around to bring awareness and money to cancer research. When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.
