OK - I like Jordan Prosser - so I want to respond...
He averages almost 7 ppg, 5 rebs in 20 minutes - he rarely has a turnover...his numbers don't differ much from Justin Gant - (8ppg, 5 rpg) who everyone here on this board seems to like....
and yet Gant starts every game, plays way more than Pross, hits only 45% and has way more turnovers.

Pross hits almost 50% of his FG attempts (leads the team among all players who have either started any games or played more than 8 minutes per game), and averages only a little over 1.5 fouls per game (Egolf & Pickett are over 3 fouls per game)..
He gets 146 pts this year on 119 FG attempts - or about 1.23 pts/attempt - as good or better than our best scorers (DSE=1.14, WE=1.14, Jalen=0.86) , and way better than Gant (1.15)
In fact Pross has taken about the same number of shots as Jalen Crawford - but has scored an incredible 52% MORE points!!
I think an argument can be made that Pross is NOT the problem - and just maybe we ought to get the ball down low into his hands MORE since we rarely seem to ever do that.

Interestingly - it appears Geno Ford agrees with this thought...
"In four straight possessions, we make zero, zero, one and one pass,” Ford said.
“We were just too quick. Because then they get to play offense more,
where they’re really good. We lost our patience and panicked. And I started to feel it slip away."

30 minutes and no shots. Unbelievable.

MCD let me clarify my position on Prosser. I may have been to harsh. I to like Prosser as a Bu representitive. HE IS NOT THE PROBLEM but, HE is part of the problem. He should be a 5 to 8 min per game player. Yes T he does have similar numbers to Gant but ISU blue doesn't depend on Gant like we depend on help from our bigs and since the Valley season started Prosser has been a NO SHOW.Maybe it's a slump and he will snap out of it. To be determined.T disagree with your statement about his turnovers. Not the best hands in the world but some of that not all his problem . Our guards don't always put the ball in places to make it easy for him to catch. IF we were to get in the upper 3 or 4 soon ,we needed to have recruited over him several years ago so he would be able to come off the bench. Simple as that. Great kid but not going to get us to the next level. This may sound like I'm anti JP but I would like to have another like him just not a 20 to 25 minute player.

It seems to me that Prosser just isn't quite strong enough, quick enough, tall enough, to be a real force. He is not intimidating defensively either....his greatest strength is use of either hand around the basket and good touch from 8-12 feet. Get him touches there and if it's not there then he needs to get rid of the ball asap. The longer JP has the ball the worse the results......

I think it's easy to find stats that support any argument but JP hasn't been effective much in the conference

Lefty I could not agree more. IMO he should be playing the 4 not the 5 we have him. The best part of his offense is that mid-range jumper. I'm also throwing any stat out on him because the eye test on this is overwhelming. Also our bigs are terrible passers. Once JP or TP gets the ball in the paint they are only thinking about heaving the ball toward the rim. Defenses are scouting this and just collapsing. Also, we need to run a few more pick and rolls. When we did we were fairly successful.

According to statsheet, in conference play, JP is only averaging 3.9 PPG and 3.5 RPG shooting 34+%, with a -24 on the plus/minus stat.

Now JP's output is nearly half of last years conference play (7.2 PPG) so hopefully this is a slump and he comes out of it with a vengeance.

JP provides a needed value and talent on this team...it really bothers me to see posters speculate and wish that he would leave. There has been improvement this year as a team and that is great. We should see even more improvement to next season and JP will be a part of that...

We all are smart enough to know that it takes a TEAM to win and putting together that puzzle is the coaches duty...I am sure Coach Ford knows what he needs to bring that puzzle closer together...

I would hope no one on here would want JP to leave, but I think we all expected more out of him and hope he can pick it up the rest of this season and next season also.

I have seen a few posters suggest as much with quotes of him being a wasted scholarship. I believe most of us believe that JP could bring more to the table and with a little fine tuning he could be what most of us thought his potential would be on The Hilltop.

I still believe in the big guy. I even thought he was being under utilized after WE came back since his production per 40 was better than SS. Now I'm just not sure what's with this slump.

A few posts have suggested this, but overall the majority of us really want JP to succeed. With his work ethic, hustle, and high character, he would be a lot of our favorite Braves if he were playing consistently well. I think maybe it's because of these attributes that we are frustrated that he is not having success.

On the same token, his scoring during the conference season is unacceptable in order to have a winning team. Considering him to be our most valuable bench player is kind of sad from a fan perspective. Whether he's out of position or not, I haven't seen much improvement from him since his freshman season, and I can say the same about JC and SS unfortunately.

I have never "wanted him gone" and I think he does provide some decent minutes off the bench. However, due to the lack of production in conference play, I don't think he'll be back next year if we're able to recruit a big or two that can step in.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

                              Point - Fields, Bell
SG/SF, since Ford doesn't really differentiate - Lemon Jr, Crawford, Grier, Tucker, Zecevic
                              PF - Pickett, Shayok
                              Center Prosser, Wells

                              Two rides are open.

My point is that I want Prosser around next year, but I want a juco center to start and a juco pf to be the first off the bench. If we need to open a ride up, I would rather it come from the SG/SF category, there are only so many minutes to go around.

Really? Where will he go? He'll be a senior. He'll be back regardless of who we recruit and frankly I'm glad.
