Not sure. I thought for sure it would be. Sorry for any women and children reading the board (probably aren't too many). :\

Will the on and on and on and on and on antics of paul herzog again assist in deflating whatever adrenalin could possibly be flowing in the crowd? A circus of every nonsensical kind every time out and half time and to top all of this off, Egolf will most likely be sitting this one out? Have a, heh heh , ball Bradley fans.

I have been watching this season to see the crowd reaction to time outs, promotions, cheerleaders, etc.

I have determined that the "promotions kill the crowd energy" argument is the 2nd most ridiculous argument presented here.

The only thing some folks stand for is to get a free tshirt or .25 miniball. The crowd gets excited when the folks have hit the half court shots this year.

I can't remember a single time out this year where people stood and cheered throughout. It doesn't happen. So can we stop pretending that these things are ruining an atmosphere that doesn't exist?

And leave the cheerleaders alone, jackass.

You can get past most censors if you make it clear you're talking about ISU. This is a known internet quirk.

Illinois State is shitty because the ISU campus is shitty and ISU fans are shitty and ISU tradition is shitty.

Bradley is ****** because the BU campus is ****** and fans are ****** and tradition is ******.

This also works for Hitler and al Qaeda.

If our players' confidence depends on message board posters we have bigger problems than I thought.

just all the more proof to dispel one of the greatest myths in existence --
that this board's moderators ban everything... LOL

One of our Peoria posters on the ISU board said he is hearing rumors that the unseasonably warm temps are causing problems with the ice under the court at Carver.

Anyone else heard this, and if so, has it ever been something that has caused a game to be completely postponed due to it being a major safety issue? Or has it always been something they can monitor with a few potential game delays?

I would wager the crowd was up for at least 75% of the Wichita game this year

JMM, I've been to many arenas all over the country and have yet to see a crowd stand and cheer during an entire scheduled time out, except maybe the students. We don't have enough of those there regulary to make a difference. My beef is when the opposing team calls a timeout because the Braves are on a run the scheduled promotions still take place. You can't say that doesn't take the crowd out of the game.

Yes, it has happened many times before. It usually results in the opposing coach griping about having to play under such gruesome conditions, and voicing concerns about his players' safety. But it will not cause the game to be postponed. The Carver Arena people will probably have to jack up the air conditioning, keep the bus doors closed, and keep the mop boys busy. One year they even put a number of fans around the floor to keep condensation from forming. They might even have to shut off the cooling for the ice surface, since the Rivermen don't play again until Saturday.

Another reason we need to have options. Carver treats BU like a red headed step child.

Well, I think the promotions do kill the crowd energy. But that's not a huge issue since if a team is on a run, the crowd will stand back up following the timeout.

However, I don't know what games you are watching JMM28, but the fans stood up quite a bit during the Michigan and Wichita St. games, and on more than several occasions during the SIU and MSU games (all games I have watched on tv or online). I think the fans are actually more into the games this year since we have been more competitive.

The opposing coach will call timeouts no matter where they play to try to take the crowd out of the game. Yes, the promotions do kill some of the momentum, but I am willing to bet there has been more standing and cheering this year due to the more competitive home games. I think Carver is slowly beginning to regain it's home court dominance, and tonight will be a good.

                            Go Braves!

I can't see this being that big of an issue since it does tend to get pretty warm at times in late February and early March as our season comes to an end. I would think there would have been some issues during the NIT, CBI and CIT in the past.

True, but I just care about the BU home games and the crowd being taken out of the games, which they are during the goofy promotions.
