  • An Excellent Opportunity

As I have said repeatedly - I root for the Braves to win avery game and I am optimistic & hopeful that we DO have a chance to knock off the Shockers today - despite many who are saying we don't have much of a chance...

    Here's why I think that..

-Wichita has to be getting a little overconfident - thinking they can handle us easily - so this is a trap game for them
Just check their boards - they're talking about being 15-point favorites in Vegas....
and their fans almost universally think they're gonna win by 20 and that Cleanthony Early will dominate with a monster game.

-The last six MVC games they've played have been pretty close - all within one or two possessions right to the end - even their home games.
I think they're ripe for an upset - like what happened to Creighton at Drake

-They rely heavily on defense and Cleanthony Early's scoring....but...we're pretty good at defense, too
In fact - Early either leads them or is 2nd on their team in just about everything - scoring, rebounding, 3-pt shooting, FT's...
I think since we are the best defensive team in the league, and now we've seen him up close and have plenty of tape on him - I truly think Geno has a plan to shut him down today...we'll see..

-we have plenty of experienced veterans - junior & seniors - and they have pride - it's pay-back time!!

-Lastly - GO BRAVES!! - and just maybe some of their players have the flu!

I think the team will play hard today, but that arena is the toughest in the league to play in, and that Wichita team is D-E-E-P. It will be a herculean task to be in this game at the end.

Obviously, I'd like BU to win today but won't be surprised if they don't. At the very least, I'd like to see them go out and punch the Shockers in the mouth from the getgo, show them that we can play. Just fight and show some heart!

I hope we win, but I would not be surprised if we don't.

Keeping it close would be a victory.

T, I don't know what you drank for breakfast today, but I wish I had your confidence heading into the game. Wichita is the last team in the Valley to be overconfident and taking another team lightly...due mainly to their head coach.
BU will be lucky to get out with a 20 point loss or better.

I am as optomistic as about anybody but this is not a good matchup for us, we are average rebounders and that in itself will hurt any chance we may have of keeping this a close game. This game will expose all of our weaknesses as far as not having a true point guard and a true center in that we will struggle against full court pressure and struggle to score the ball in the paint, making 3 point shots and pull-up jumpers is our best chance at keeping this game close and Will and Ty staying out of foul trouble which has been a major problem against good teams.

Anything can happen but I am not as optimistic as you tornado. I think of our remaining games this is the least likely game for us to win.

We are due to catch a team having a bad night though. Maybe tonight is the night and we get a signature win.

If we play as well as we did against WSU at home and have a night where we shoot the lights out, anything is possible. Egolf will help, but I think they gain more from having Hall back. WE and TP simply cannot pick up cheap fouls tonight if we want to stay in this one.

And Prosser needs to contribute a heck of a lot more than he has been.

We need an effort from JP in the ISU game like he had vs. Michigan. He has all but disappeared since that game - wish he could regain confidence. His production makes us a whole lot better.

I will admit - I wasn't all that optimistic - just very hopeful...and of course none of their guys were out with the flu...

but - I have the same hopefulness about tomorrow - would love to get a win

I think hoping opposing players are out with the flu is really reaching and kind of bush league personally.

You can take his comment for what it's worth - I didn't take it as T was hoping they caught the flu, but if by chance they did, we had a chance to win. And maybe it was said in jest. Then again, maybe your comment, Getitright, was said in jest too and I'm just rambling on.

If the comment were, "I'm hoping that Wichita State's guys catch the flu so that we can win." that could be considered a bit bush league.

This reminds me of an article by KW that was taken as an attack on the previous regime, when really you had to dig deep to bring out the bad in a comment that was pretty general and soft in nature. But because it was KW, people were jumping all over that 1 comment to unravel a pretty nice piece, which most of us fans would say doesn't happen all that often.

I hope the entire Missouri Valley besides BU comes down with the flu and we win every game. Call me bush league.
