The home game against WSU gave me excitement and hope for the program going forward. The road game told us that we still have a long way to go. All losses are equal in the L column, but are not equal for fans trying to see hope in the future of the program.

No matter who the coach is, or was, now are you pro-anti guys happy, there is no way to compare a 30 point loss to a 1 point loss. Sure it's only one loss, but come on, that's what losers say and I don't consider BU basketball a loser program.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

How was that determined?? SOS was NOT considered in that factor (but it should be).

This has nothing to do with JL vs. GF. Both are great guys and I wish both the best.

I read one post - that it starts from the top and that JG just got here..... But I believe she has been here 6 years? Most CEO's at CAT are usually around for 5 years - then it's time to retire. Also - I wish Al Bowman (ISU-Red Prez) a VERY happy retirement.

Braves - Best of luck vs. the Redbirds.
It is better to go into a recruits home and say "look at our improved record were turning things around and you can be part of it" rather than saying "yeah we lost a lot of games but we played really good teams"

Count me as one of those who said it's only one loss. And I have seen teams come back from dreadful games like this with a win the next game. Even bad teams have done this. So as far as this one loss is concerned, I'm not that worried that we won't at least be competitive on Tuesday.

That said, yes, this is the third blowout loss we have had this year, all on the road. Still a bit of an improvement over last year as we held our own against Evansville at their place, and at home against WSU. But I'm not downplaying the pattern of at least 8 or 9 blowout losses these past two years. But I'm just isolating on one game, I think we do come back hungry for a win on Tuesday night. Agreed that we can't become unravelled like we did last night, and there is still a big cause for concern for the future. But I'm an optimist, so let's see what happens against ISU, and then we can pick up this discussion.

If that were the case, Mississippi Valley State should see a vast improvement in recruiting.

I think I know but if I put it on here I'd be labeled a JL hater. Which I'm not. I like many wish things would have been different but I agree it was time. We are making progress regardless of 30 point losses. Things are going to get better or changes will be made again. Bottom line. Go Braves, Pluck the Birds.
I agree we are making progress, but I can't agree when people say 30-point losses are no different than 1-point losses. Obviously, they both count as just one loss, but you really don't see the difference when it comes to the big picture? I would much rather have every loss be decided by 1 point rather than 30 points.

Obviously. I don't think anyone here is arguing that fact.

..but here's what we heard a year ago after our loss to Wichita State at home...
I am bothered that we have not come all that far...and WSU lost four of their starters.

"Ugly doesn’t begin to describe the game,” said BU coach Geno Ford.
“You can go to games the next 20 years and I don’t know if you’d sit through one that was that one-sided.

This was men vs. boys and shows how far Bradley has to go to compete with the league’s elite."

                      Whar we are doing wrong

Coach---You asked "what are we doing wrong"? IMO our number one problem is a terrible lack of talent. With 2 or 3 exceptions, the players we recruit and sign seem to be marginal players who don't really have the talent to compete successfully at the level we want to be at. We just don't do a very good job of evaluating talent IMO. Look at our bench---full of marginal players and projects who really are not ever going to be able to help us much. We need to set the bar much higher in terms of who we recruit. I know this is difficult but if other schools can do it---why not we? If Geno can't recruit better players, he will not succeed at Bradley and our program will continue to decline.

One thing to remember about the home game is that WSU did not play three of their starters.

now wait a minute.....this is a statement that seems to be like a pendulum and swings back & forth...
Have we not seen any and all of the following statements recently??

-Walt Lemon, Jr. is 1st or 2nd team All Conference - most would agree with this
-DSE has gotten All Conference mention and is a front runner for defensive POY
-the whole first half of the season Tyshon played well, got the Newcomer of the Week and everyone thought he was a solid MVC player
In fact, wizard - you were impressed as heck that we had landed a stud! - LINK
-we're 15 points better this year - better by "light years" according to one writer - and Will Egolf makes a huge difference - even Gregg Marshall said that
-Jake fills the stat sheet, both he & Prosser average as much or more than the 4th, 5th, or 6th men on just about every Valley team
-and I could even throw out a few other accolades - but I think our starting five & first couple subs ought to be able to hold their own...
I agree the bench is horribly ineffective - but I have said that for two years - and somehow nobody but me seems to think that problem really hasn't been addressed yet...
                            - In fact - we only have Will Egolf because of a rare gift - a 6th year waiver - can you imagine where we'd be if his waiver request was turned down?
We're gonna get a whole lot worse when 3 starters, Egolf, Jake, & DSE are gone...

                              Gotta disagree with this statement...

First, let me say that I think the seniors have played well this season...kudos to them!

However, we have 2 potential starters on the bench in street clothes this year because they transferred and cannot play.

We have 2 new recruits coming in who were recruited for their ball handling and outside shooting.

I think all of the returning scholarship players will be better...including Tyshon, who will be a 2nd year JC transfer.

And we have 2 scholarships yet to fill for next season.

I think the future looks bright...too bad you don't see it the same way.

You don't evaluate good teams based on just their starters. You evaluate the bench. Our last good bench was Franklin, Adams, Boogie, Zach and Heemskirk (plus an invisible Crouch)

And yes, I'm concerned a bit about next year. Like Geno just said on his radio show this morning, SS is the only bench player that has improved this year.

I like what I hear about Grier, Fields and Tucker. I'm hoping for 1 or more Juco bigs, because the loss of Will for a few games has been significant.

But I am still hopeful for the future. I think bringing in Fields and Grier as practice competition is a big reason DSE has overall elevated his defensive game this year. Offensively, the seniors can be replaced... They only combined for 1 made shot on Saturday.
