7 losses by 30 points or more in the last 2 seasons. Yet experts keep saying we are better. The only such 30 point loss in the previous 10+ years was at Duke. A year ago, just before all the 30 point losses started, the PJS sports expert told us we were already "light years" better.
I think we are improving. The home games where we stayed with Michigan and WSU tell me that. At Evansville, we hung in there until late, unlike last year when we got crushed. A road win against a bad SIU tells me that too. We already have more conference wins than we did last year.

The losses at UNI and at WSU do concern me. I understand why some fans look at those games and don't see improvement.

I do worry about our lack of contributing bigs for next year. If we don't get two bigs that can play we will be in for another long season.

I think that Geno made the decision to commit to Fields and Grier, and that decision may pay off but has hurt us this season.

I see DSE having improved tremendously on the defensive end, I give credit to Geno for that.

A change has to be made at the top before things get better.

Agreed with everything, except we haven't played Drake at their place yet. It should be a winnable game, but with Drake upsetting Creighton, I don't think that is a guarantee either.

????? Really? Not a Geno fan? Or am I missing something? Please elaborate.

He said at the top and GF is not that person!

I'm not too concerned about GF's coaching ability. I believe he is doing a good job of the talent at hand. What does concern me though is the recruiting front. Its great that we are in the running of pretty good players but until he closes a few of them our ability to be where we want the team, is marginal at best. There are two scholarships open right now and to say they are not crucial to the team's success the next two years is being naive. It can be done but we better hope someone on this staff is a real closer!

And recall that by the 3rd recruiting class in the last coach's tenure, all the pieces were already brought in that would lead to a Sweet 16 run. Who are those pieces now?
Who are the starters next year? And since the same people who have been telling us how much better this current team is are the ones hyping the incoming players, does that worry anyone?
I don't think anyone is "ok" with 30 point losses. But they are still just one loss.
No asterisk for 30 point losses. If we keep winning games at home that we are suppose to win then that is getting better. The last few years of previous coach's time(since you brought it up) we lost some games at home we never should have....

Wins are wins, no matter where they are played, and I'd much rather have 20+ win seasons than struggle with single digit wins and massive blowouts. But that's just me.
And I don't like losing, and don't care whether it is a home game or a road game.
30+ point blowouts may only count a 1 loss on the record, but they are far more damaging in many other ways. Attendance Tuesday would have been much stronger of we had come off a good performance. Now we have to plead with fans to buy tickets for the ISU game-
PEORIA, Ill. ? Fans are reminded tickets remain for the first meeting in the annual Interstate 74 Rivalry series between the Bradley and Illinois State men's basketball teams Tuesday at Carver Arena.

I doubt 9400 would have showed even if we had won in WSU though......

I didn't think he was talking about Geno, but was just asking him to clarify.

Well if he's talking about JG, she just got here a few years ago. Doubtful she's going anywhere anytime soon, but I guess she would be responsible if things really went south. But I'm confident things are beginning to turn around despite last night.

I don't get it I guess. Why are we making a point of 30 points losses? I hate to lose no matter what I'm doing but a 30 point loss isn't any different than a 1 point loss in the L column. Someone please explain to me why we are making this such a big deal. I think I know but if I put it on here I'd be labeled a JL hater. Which I'm not. I like many wish things would have been different but I agree it was time. We are making progress regardless of 30 point losses. Things are going to get better or changes will be made again. Bottom line. Go Braves, Pluck the Birds.

I'd love to hear your rationale behind this statement.

My last posting was predicting a great game with MSU and I left for vacation. I would have predicted Evansville by 10 and WSU to beat BU by 20.... but scoring 39 points? BU's SOS and CupCake schedule does not help them prepare for the valley conference (except for SIU, Drake and MSU). Then I see BU is the 5th most improved team in the nation..... How was that determined?? SOS was NOT considered in that factor (but it should be).

This has nothing to do with JL vs. GF. Both are great guys and I wish both the best.

I read one post - that it starts from the top and that JG just got here..... But I believe she has been here 6 years? Most CEO's at CAT are usually around for 5 years - then it's time to retire. Also - I wish Al Bowman (ISU-Red Prez) a VERY happy retirement.

Braves - Best of luck vs. the Redbirds.

Some university presidents are around for 20 years or more. 6 years may be a long time especially if people don't like them, but is still a relatively short time. Maybe I have a different definitiion of "short time".

It's an arbitrary number that has no significant statistical point. It fits certain talking points similar to talking about 20 win seasons that featured 17 and 15 losses.

No matter what the final score it still only counts as one loss.
