UNI hammering Drake - up 15 at half

Drake shooting poorly - just 9-30, UNI shooting 52%

IU wins at Northwestern but it wasn't easy - after losing a big lead - the last 7 minutes were mostly just a 5 to 7 pt lead than Indiana hung on to

We'll see if Phelps survives this year or not. I would think he will be on the hot seat at Drake if they don't improve drastically before the end of the year.

UNI pouring it on and Drake looks awful. UNI has now pulled out to a 59-31 lead after 14 straight points.

We beat Drake at home fairly easily so UNI clobbering them at UNI is not a surprise as they hammered us also up there, SIU and ISU will be interesting and from what I have heard lately Diamond Taylor might return to action.

              Final from this afternoon's game-
              Drake 55
              UNI 85

UNI is obviously tough at home. But from what I saw, Drake appeared to quit. Several bench players played season high or near season-high minutes which tells me Coach Phelps was not happy with his starters' effort.
I think Coach Phelps is on the way out.

I am getting a bit suspicious. Why don't you post the PENNY's picks before the games are finished, like everyone else has to do? I think he might be....nevermind.

UNI ----- UNI needs to play like they did vs BU
ISUR ---- 50-50, Deadbirds can't lose them all, can they?

safe to say that ISU's likely to get their first Valley win tonight
they have a 23 pt lead late in the 1st quarter - I suppose they could blow it but I doubt they will

ISU suddenly looks very good, raining 3-pointers against SIU. But on the other hand, SIU looks horrendous. They can't buy a basket or a rebound. SIU getting outrebounded 24-11, and outscored 47-21 at halftime. SIU has 1 assist so far.

Box score for the Illinois State Redbirds vs. Southern Illinois Salukis NCAAM game from January 20, 2013 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.

UNI can look dominating at times - and despite their record (10-9 overall and 3-4 in MVC) - all their losses are to pretty good teams..
Louisville, Stanford, Memphis, Iowa, UNLV, Wichita State, Indiana State, Evansville, Creighton.
They will probably, in the end, battle Indiana State & Evansville for 3-5th

not a Valley game but saw that Loyola needed overtime to squeak by Chicago State ...
how weird is this - Loyola won 10 of their first 13 games - and now they can't beat anyone -
                            Cully Payne 1 basket, 1-5, 3 asst/6 TO in almost 40 min

The same phenomenon is happening to UIC- Chicago newspapers were posting articles about how great a turnaround Howard Moore had made this year when UIC jumped out to a 9-1 start. But now they have lost 7 of their last 9 with wins over only Youngstown State and Loyola.

And how far has Rob Jeter and Wisconsin-Milwaukee fallen? Just a little more than a year ago he was being mentioned for some pretty good head coaching jobs, including Bradley. But this year they are in last place and are the worst team in the Horizon League with a 5-14 record (the only Horizon League team with a losing record) and a 300+ RPI. And 2 of their 5 wins are over non-Division I schools (Mary & Dominican). Maybe his window of opportunity has passed?
