    That's an outstanding effort.

Not if you're a Hawkins. This may have been UC-D's biggest win of the Jim Les era. This is the same Hawaii team that lost to Illinois by one in OT.

it is often actually very tough to win AT Hawaii...

they win the majority of their home games because the opponent has to make the long trip crossing several time zones just to play that one game..
while Hawaii - when they go on a road trip - they leave early and tend to play several games on the road swing so they get acclamated.

Xavier lost there last year, as did Utah & Mississippi State the year before..
Hawaii has two decent D-I transfers in Standhardinger (Big Ten transfer) and Brandon Spearman -
...and were 10-7 overall - including 4-0 in their conference before last night.
They also hadn't lost and given up more than 81 pts to anyone - not even Illinois, UNLV, Miami, Ole Miss....
They had been holding opponents to only 40% shooting while UCD hit 53%

Actually, they already had lost 2 in conference. They are now 4-3. Regardless, they are one of the better teams in their conference so this was a huge win for Les' program.

sorry - I meant to say they were 4-0 at home in conference -

btw - last night's performance boosted Corey's scoring average nearly two ppg to almost 20ppg - now almost in the national TOP 20
and his 3-pt shooting boosted his 3-pt shooting pct by nine points...

Great road win for Les and UC Davis! As others have stated, many BCS programs have trouble winning there because of the long flight to Hawaii. I know UCD has way too many losses for this win to put them into at-large contention, but they may be very dangerous in a wide open Big West tournament. Hopefully they can ride this momentum to a strong finish this year.

Has more to do with homer officials then anything else as I have been to 2 Rainbow classics which is now called The Diamond Head classic and the officiating was brutal , ask Granger about it.

I agree.....and it's all college levels. I watched Olivet play a couple of games out there several years ago against 2 D-2 teams...it was brutal

Chip off the old block. Happy for the Hawk to see his son being so successful and helping Jim's team. By the way UC Davis has a great website.

I just noticed that UC Davis is now in a log jam for 5th place. They are in a 4 way tie for 5th place at 3-3, but just a half game behind for third, and just one game behind for second. They also have two very winnable home games coming up before the first of two three game road trips. So we'll see if Les can get his team to finish strong, which is a definite possibility in a wide open Big West Conference.

4-5 place seems to be Jimmy's move.

I frankly don't care what he did or did not accomplish here. I'm just following his progress at UC Davis like I follow Mo's at WIU, and other former Valley coaches like Altman at Oregon. I root for nothing but the best for all of these coaches and hope that Les finishes well this year in the Big West, which again is pretty wide open this year.

In that conference a 4-5 place team has as good of a chance as anyone to win the conference tournament and get an NCAA berth. In fact, it makes more sense to sacrifice winning the regular season in favor of getting your team to peak during the confernce tournament... UC-D just may be able to do that if guys like Hawk, Jr. get hot and stay hot. Many of us predicted that Les may have more instant success at UC-D than Geno has at BU. So far it hasn't happened as Geno has shown one of the biggest turnarounds in the nation (Oh, the FALLOUT! ). But Les could still get his team to The Dance faster due to being in such a weak conference.
