Not! Its proven highly effective. Thousands of people used to die of influenza every year before flu vaccines were developed. Now it is rare.

I got it a few years in a row in the mid 2000s, and I never got the flu (except when they gave me the shot). Amazing. I stopped getting it a few years ago, and I haven't gotten the flu. There is value in getting one at some point, but getting one every year does nothing but line someone's pocket.

Thus the need for a new vaccine each year. That what makes it work. Its always possible for new strains to emerge and someone who had a shot could still get sick. But that doesn't happen often.
