  • What's going on with the Braves?

Unfortunately, I completely missed the game yesterday as I was out of town. The score was a little unruly, but as well as BU played its first five games, I'm led to believe that the score does not reflect the ball game. I heard MSU got on some runs, but were there any positives for the Braves, who are now 0-2 vs. the Big Ten. What's going on? After that loss to the Illini, BU has dropped 3 in a row. Are we hung over?

Nope. Just working through some early-season adversity. They're about to win 4 straight heading into conference play, so no need to panic just yet.
    Onward and Upward!

We still have not figured out how to play on the road!!They are two different teams home and away.. Especially defensively! And why do we play great at neutral sites?

You may be right about being two different teams, but I think it is also a product of who BU has played. They have not played anyone at home yet (DePaul may have beaten Kansas but they were bad when they came here). We will get a chance to see how BU plays when they play good teams at home when the MVC season opens. I am a little worried about how well they will do at home against some of the better MVC teams. I just remember that many times last year when POB and/or Cellus and/or Wright were out of the game BU looked bad and were exposed inside. BU did not look good last year at all when those guys were not playing and that is exactly how we have looked the last couple games. I CERTAINLY hope I am wrong! Oh, yes, we still seem to have trouble on the road even against mediocre teams.

I've seen how poor we've been on the road as much as anyone. But lets remember that a lot of teams play much better at home than on the road. DePaul had some good home wins last year but lost by like 45 points at OLD DOMINION...so I mean, it happens.

The Illini sure played a lot more tenative at Arizona (neutral court whatever, it was about as neutral as Bradley playing at the Sears Centre) than they did at home against Maryland.

BU just needs to work on making that difference not as significant as it has been at times lately. When BU was playing great the first five games, it appeared that the team would not allow anyone to make a big run on them. Now in the last two road games, we've lost because of allowing not just runs, but BIG runs - somethign that happens a lot more on the road (and also something you seem to be able to do yourself much more easily at home).

Time to get the confidence back against Wright St.
            Go Braves!
