In what may be the worst half of college basketball every played, Eastern Michigan leads Northern Illinois 18-4 at the half!!! NIU may be the worst team in Division I right now if not for their 4 wins.

Yeah, and what was that other game that took place in Wichita? I forget who was playing there.

only 23 minutes of that game were ugly - our guys need to find a way to play the whole game like they played the first 17-18 minutes...

Add that 55-34 San Diego State win over #15 New Mexico last night. New Mexico will recover from this, but why so many low scoring games yesterday?! And not just mid-major teams, but many from the Big Ten, a conference where some of their fan base continually snubs the mid-majors as being too defensive minded!

So I saw that Northern Illinois was playing #4 Florida tonight.....oh, wait a minute. I guess that was South Carolina. I couldn't tell by the score though as Florida was up 33-10 at the half! Florida went on to demolish S. Carolina 75-36.

Gotta love these horrid shooting efforts we are seeing lately. And even BCS teams aren't immune to this!

hard to pick the ugliest performances any more...
Oregon loses at home scoring just 47....

ex-BU recruit Chris Colvin at Arizona State goes for zero points, one rebound, zero assists, and 3 turnovers!

in contrast - ex-BU recruit Fabyon Harris had a great game and led his Tex A&M squad over ranked Mizzou...
Fabyon had the game winner last second three

Oregon has really been crashing the last couple of weeks. Their third loss in less than two weeks I think.

Sorry to disappoint you lefty but it appears ND woke up since Brey's technical. With 3 minutes to go in the first half it's now:

                        Pitt 21
                        ND 17

that's what I get......maybe they won't score the rest of the game

Here's an interesting column on how D-I basketball has gotten such low offense and the guy quotes Jim Molinari but seems to take a dig or two at him for being so defense-minded..

in an ugly game Wisconsin beat Northwestern 69-41 - with the Northwestern Wildcats barely averting a game where they scored in the 30's

Here's a link where you can see a video of the game - but note the oddity..........
Northwestern is wearing their alternate BLACK JERSEYS at home, and Wisconsin is wearing their white jerseys even tho they were the road team.....
The fans should have complied and worn black but as you can see in the video - a good percentage - in fact even a majority of all the people sitting in the lower bowl in line with the camera's view - are Wisconsin fans who appear to have bought up all the tickets and make the place look like it must be in Wisconsin since there's so much red.

Late game last night - Cal beats Oregon 48-46..
The two teams combined for 36-107 (33.6%) from the field and 3-21 from 3-pt (14%)

one of the Cal players deserves a spot on the all-name team - Bak Bak - his only shot was a real brick..

                                ..also in the Pac-12..
Oregon State head coach Craig Robinson (better known as Michelle Obama's brother) was a relativelty hot name the past couple years -
even being mentioned for jobs such DePaul and even the University of Illinois job last May!!

....but that window may have closed...
after a 9-2 start thru the end of December - they have gone 4-12 and are challenging seriously for last place in the Pac-12.

now there's plenty being written that he's on a really hot seat at Oregon State
Craig Robinson of the Oregon State Beavers and Ken Bone of the Washington State Cougars are both in danger, with Ben Howland of the UCLA Bruins right along with them.
