UMKC wasted no time- they just hired Kareem Richardson less than a week after firing Matt Brown.
So I wonder why they don't they need to go through weeks of advertising the open position to meet EEOC rules, interviewing numerous candidates, employing a search firm, and offering the job to many candidates before they find the right one?

Wow - here's some really interesting news...
regarding NIU as they embark on hiring a new AD...
This article says that head basketball coach Mark Montgomery is ALREADY on the hot seat!!!
".. it will be up to the new athletic director—who NIU’s new president will be
in charge of hiring—to realize what type of school NIU is.
The new A.D. will need to focus on smart short-term decisions that hopefully
can pan out so bigger, money-making NIU athletic programs, like football and
basketball, have a better chance at long-term success.
The men’s basketball program has no doubt struggled these past years,...
Mark Montgomery. ...just finished up his second season and the second year
of a five-year $1.5 million contract
Coming from Michigan State, most thought there would be improvement in
the program. There wasn’t.
In the two seasons under Montgomery, NIU has posted an overall record of
10-51 and a conference record of 6-26. There haven’t been any
improvements from the 2011/2012 season to the 2012/2013 season and the
Board believes that’s due to Montgomery’s inability to adapt to this program.
He may bring the same kinds of tactics he had at MSU, but he doesn’t have
those kinds of players to execute plays. This past season, Montgomery had
six freshmen who saw a good amount of minutes on the court, players he
recruited and players he should know inside and out, but it was clear they
didn’t have the ability to compete in his system.
The Northern Star Editorial Board pegs this upcoming season as a make-it-
or-break-it one for Montgomery. With a new athletic director coming in, we
wouldn’t doubt the coach will be on a short leash."
That would be pretty amazing - the guy getting canned after his 3rd year - and to think he was one of our top candidates who was ahead of Geno! I recall one of our local writers hyped Montgomery as the best choice as did several fans

Chattanooga fires John Shulman

Washington State mulling over firing Ken Bone
http://www.cougcenter.com/wsu-cougars-basketball/2013/3/20/4130080/ken-bone-hot-seat-fired-bill-moosThe 2013-2014 season has been the worst of Ken Bone's five at WSU. It apparently was the final straw for athletics director Bill Moos, who relieved the coach of his duties on Tuesday.
