well I am basing it on the thread from early November asking people to predict how many games BU would win and just about everyone thought based on our non-conference schedule - that we'd get 8 wins there and surely we'd beat the two worst Valley teams - so that's TEN right there...

I am on record predicting an 8-4 non-conference record (which was exactly right), and I predicted we would beat SIU and Drake so far. We have not had any quality wins yet, and the "improvement" or "over achievement" can be explained pretty much by the poor opposition.
Please answer this question, and I think you will see the folly of your statement-
What are the best wins we have had so far?

With the exception of today and USF, we have been competitive in every game we've played including the team likely to be #1 in the nation come Monday. Bradley simply came out flat due to tired legs today and played even with UNI in the second half. The fact Bradley is even relevant in an MVC conversation is an improvement from last season."How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal, and you have to be willing to work for it." - Jim Valvano

We didn't play much worse today than in Wednesday...just UNI had more firepower than Indy St. and they finally played like they were capable...and we didn't improve from our last game.

We are still getting drubbed by record margins by mediocre teams. Getting beat by 30+ points is something new in these last couple years.
And recall that the reason people wanted a change was because they were tired of 4th and 5th place finishes. Until we get back to the upper half of the MVC and post winning records, it's hard to get excited about "improvement".

You are correct I don't want to settle for finishing 5th every year I want to win the conference. If that means a couple tough years of restocking the talent stream that dried up so be it. JL had plenty of opportunity make BU a title contender and we never were. I guess I'm just not satisfied with complacency while others are more concerned with having a "BU guy" at the helm. I just want to win championships and I believe geno gives us a fanastic chance to do so."How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. funny - ISU was 4th at 9-9 last year and everyone seems to drool with envy and wish our program was like theirs....
9-9 didn't get much drooling when we were doing it..
we were at least 9-9 five years in a row and people continuously grumbled and everyone wanted a major overhaul and now we have it...
now we're getting blown out by 30-40 like has never happened in my memory at BU games - and there are people who still argue we're improved??
Yeah - if we play nothing but IUPUI, UT-Martin, and Mo Valley State we do look improved with 10 wins
as I said - the Valley is wide open for any team that wants to play well to finish 3rd - but right now we are one of the teams with chemistry issues (ISU, Drake, SIU)
and we need to get it corrected asap

9 - he is our coach - and I know you go to every game and root hard just like I do --
I can cut some slack for the turnaround time and getting in new players - but
the complete lack of hustle, competitiveness, and effort is what I am not happy about...
Today's game showed something BU has NEVER before been known for - lying down and looking totally beaten early in the 1st half
Those aren't just my words - those are the words of the announcers who were doing the game - our radio announcers
..not BU but similar sentiment...
just to make some feel better - UAB has missed their LAST 37 3-pointers!!!
and the ISU Redbirds lose badly at home to one of the MVC's worst teams - even having a 38-15 stretch that changed a 9-pt lead to a 14 pt deficit..
and their media gives them all B's and C's !!

We are improved. Staying with Michigan, WSU and VT tell us that. Improvement in Jake and DSE tell me that too.
We played a favorable part of the MVC schedule early, and got 2 wins. For darn sure I will not be apologizing for that. We will have more conference wins this season than we did last season. Marked improvement.
Geno has us moving forward.Return to Glory
