I believe that the 10% rule is the minimum benchmark established by BU and that the administration and President reserve the right t do whatever they choose above this minimum. I'm sure once they know the facts an official and appropriate punishment will be imposed.

Did not mean that he should not be suspended at all, can see why it looks that way. I think there should be a suspension. Just don't know what does 5 games or 4 games do that 3 doesn't.

If the BU administration wrote the handbook, they will be applying it as they see fit. They know more details of the situation than I do. I trust they will handle the suspension appropriately.

By your calculations its either 3 or 4 games. 3.2 in most instances is rounded to 3. 5 still seems arbitrary and I'm not going to get into what is right because we do not have all the facts. I'm sure whatever punishment is put upon him it will be a little harsher then almost every program out there. I've yet to see our President hand out any judgement that has been perceived lenient. She is quite the conservative custodian as well as the community.

I don't know the "letter of the law" in this situation. While I understand the point about rounding, you could also say that 3 < (10% of 31) just like 1 or 2 is less than 10% of 31.

And depending on team rules, Will did miss the bus to Carbondale, and that might mean another game..so 5 may not be arbitrary.

Everyone here is exercising common sense real fan. It's pretty subjective though about everyone's personal views.

Maybe 1 night in jail and everyone in P-town knowing you messed up isn't enough for a long-term change. I believe that a suspension is needed - not only to send a message to the rest of the team, but to send one to Will. Not sure if you and Rusty are feeling it doesn't matter whether he gets suspended or not, but it could be taken that way.

I'm sure that he's feeling a whole lot better than the night he spent in jail with probably more support, talking to Coach Ford, and the fact that he can practice with the team. But with further consequences, he would need to reflect on it some more and the pain and repercussions of his actions might sink in a little more. And that will allow him to get his act together before returning to the things he loves and the opportunities that have so graciously been given to him.

Selfishly as an avid BU hoops fan, I really want Will to return - his services might get us a few more wins. He has been a good leader up until now and makes our team stronger and deeper as a whole. I think Will has played well under Geno's system and want him to go out on a high note as much as anyone else.

But I think down deeper we want what's best for Will after his BU career is over and if a stricter penalty is enforced to foster that, then we should accept it and move on with who we've got.

No way should he be playing until he serves his 10% suspension, I believe in rules and also 2nd chances, I think missing 4 games fits the crime in this case and I also hope he is getting help.

I agree with the first part. I just happen to believe the game that was played while he was sitting in jail should not count towards the suspension, therefore he should miss 5 games. I guess that's the only difference in our thinking.

There may not be much backing for your view, Shaun, but I'm with ya' on this one. Besides, from a basketball standpoint, whether he returns for the SIU game, we should have little trouble taking care of the Salukis at home.
