in the game last night where Arizona came back from sure defeat at home and beat Colorado in OT...
I think the video replay CLEARLY shows that the refs robbed Colorado...

if you stop the video at 0:04 seconds into the video of the end of regulation (per the video timer - not the on-screen game clock)
..and when the game clock is at 0.2 seconds, the shot is more than a foot out of the shooter's hands...and the backboard lights are NOT YET ON!

I don't understand how officials don't get that right after watching the replay.....

Colorado coach Tad Boyle - who lost the game because the replay was reviewed (it was initially called good)
now comes out and says replay should be trash-heaped...

Here is a screen grab picture showing the ball appears to have left the shooter's hand with still 0.1 second left if you are going by the clock in the lower right part of the screen. However, is that the official clock?
If you look at the clock above the backboard, it shows 0.0 already.

And here is a recycling GIF image that shows it is about as close as it could possibly be, not so clearcut. It looks like his finger might have still been in contact with the ball as the backboard light comes on.-

What is Tad Boyle talking about? Replay prevents way more of these kinds of problems that is causes. Dumping replay would not make this better. The games would still have video that would show the refs might have missed the calls, and these kinds of controversies would go back to being a daily occurrence somewhere. Instead, it is a rare, once every couple years event.

I kind of see with his point - we play 39 minutes and 59.9 seconds of a game using just the ref's eyeballs and judgement (usually - I know there are rarely some in-game replays but not many) - knowing they may miss a call here and there which might result in a team unfairly losing when they should have won.
Then in the final 0.1 seconds we have a different scenario - a replay decides the outcome.

It kind of reminds me of every time we invent a new thingie like the RPI or expand the NCAA Tourney to try to make everyone happy or re-write all the tax laws...it NEVER, EVER fails ....people are STILL unhappy - maybe a different segment of the people but there's always those who are unhappy with whatever's decided - so leave the rules alone!

Great work finding this . That is a tough one reminds me of the Washington Manual game last March. Tough one for either to lose.

wow....is that close.........to me that would be like the NFL rule where there isn't enough evidence to overturn the original call whatever that was.

According to this article, the officials did not have the ESPN video to review. I am not sure what video they looked at, but it seems odd that they did not have the best views that the various ESPN camera could have provided.
