Now what?

Putting aside all the legal stuff for a minute and focusing on the guys we should be giving our attention to.... Where do we go from here? Who gets Will's minutes now? I'm guessing we start Prosser now, and Shayok gets substantially more minutes.

So, do we just continue with these guys, or say welcome to the team Nate Wells? Is Wells even ready?

GF is not the type of coach that is playing for next year. He'll be playing to win each game. If NW can give us a few quality minutes I'm sure we'll see him. What we will see is a smaller team and I'd expect more minutes for Bell, Crawford and SS.

Will, because of foul trouble, was only averaging 24.7 minutes per game. Prosser was averaging 20.8 mpg, and Shayok just 5.2 mpg.
Against a team like SIU with no big men, it will be easy to replace Will's minutes with a combination of forwards and guards. But against bigger teams, Prosser will have to play 8-10 minutes more, Shayok 8-10 minutes more, and Crawford several minutes more. Maybe there will be a need to play Wells a little (might as well, he hasn't got any more redshirt years), or Milos a little more, but I don't see Geno playing them in crunch times.

I was wondering if SS was still being worked back in as the PJS had previously reported some time ago. However, he's only averaged 4 minutes/game over the last 3 games.

That has not been much of a return. But now I think his minutes will need to increase more than anyone else's.

The last time I checked, we still lived in a Country that practiced this philosophy. So lets not prosecute on a message board. What would happen if he were kicked off the team and then found to be innocent ? That would be a travesty, I however do believe he is guilty, I also believe that removal from the team is to much, why should he or any other NCAA player be held to higher standards than others. The problem is solved by yet another NCAA rule. It should clearly state what happens to each player for drug arrests and alcohol arrests. I also think that everyone seems to forget that many people have become addicted to pain killers as a result of legitimate medical treatment, did everyone forget his medical history, not an excuse. However maybe these athletes should be monitored for just such a case. One last thing, I know exactly what happened first hand, its bad, but not that bad.
I support some outpatient re-hab and the 10% suspension.

What would happen if he were kicked off the team and then found to be innocent you ask. Then you say you believe he is guilty and you know exactly what happened and it's bad. If you know what happened and it's bad, he's not innocent, as much as we would all hope he is.

You make a lot of great points and the one that I really like is the fact the NCAA has nothing in place so that the student/athlete is treated fairly across the board , should not be double standards as far as penalties issued yet each University acts differently on these matters.

Will has gone to BU for 6 years cost free. Yes he should be held to a higher standard. By being a student athlete he agreed to meet a certain standard and in return receive a free education. He has not held up his side of that agreement.
