Bottom line is that Will has a problem whatever degree it may be, and after tearing his ACL twice there's a good chance he will need to be productive in a profession that would terminate him immediately if this happened after this year. Love him or hate him, he deserves to be helped in whatever way we can.

Bradley U has committed 6 years to Will also. As I said earlier, we all hope Will is cleared, but he brought this whole thing on himself.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Just a minor point, but most work places, including where I work, would place the employee on probation pending the outcome of the case. If they were found guilty, then the employee would have to go through counseling and then be subjected to random drug tests.
      Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

          • I haven't posted on this issue yet but i feel like i should give the view of a current student. There are a lot of college kids today that use perscription drugs recreationally and/or know someone who has stuff if they are hurt with out having to see a doctor. I had friends i played soccer with wake up real sore from lasting injuries in high school and what not that found someone to get a few vicodin from to help ease the pain. It doesn't happen all the time and they arent addicted sometimes its just easier to get a couple vicodin instead of taking a ton of advil/ibprofin. Also more than the vicodin, aderall and other ADD meds get passed around like candy in certian groups at Bradley. I know tons of kids that take ADD meds with out a prescription to help them study for tests and finals.

I don't know if Will has an addiction, I do think it was stupid of him putting himself in a bad situation. Basketball players are not normal students and they are and should be held to a higher standard. I hope he gets the help he needs if he is addicted but I think Will has done a pretty good job representing Bradley over his 6 years here and I hope that this is not the way he ends his carreer.

I feel you are wise beyond your years - and I hope other young people and students see drug mis-use and over-use for the destructive power it has and for the cheapness of whatever fleeting high is the lure...
Even beyond the logical and scientifically proven detriments of illegal drug use - I also believe there is a great God who has given each of us fine physical bodies to take good care of and that we risk having a lot of explaining to do if we misuse or abuse the gifts we have.

                  • Well we have all made mistakes and bad choices - but unlike when I was in college - nowadays there such a strong push to LEGALIZE all kinds of self-destructive and perverted behavior or to claim it is harmless and fun and ought to be enjoyed by everyone.
A lot of this stuff are the devil's lies but the kids are not hearing the truth.

                      • Drugs have been a destructive force on our society but the question should be; How should individuals who are hooked be treated, as a criminal or treated as a mental health issue. The easy solution has been to treat it as a criminal problem but the problem has not gone away and in fact it has just been a large drain on our resources on multiple counts. Mental health as a whole in this country has taken a back seat to our prison system. I believe there needs to be a new approach because our prison system has become a for profit industry that is not and is not an institution that takes care of all the mental health issues in their system which ask anyone who works in it will tell you 1/2 the population has real mental health issues. So just locking them up is not fixing the issue.

I'm a libertarian so in short I have three different stages for individuals using drugs. If you can function and not have to depend on the state for anything the state should leave you alone but once you are not functional and become dependent on the state to live then there should be an institutional mandate and if you are committing crimes while on drugs or selling then we need to throw the book at the perps with vengeance.
