If I'm Will, I am thanking KW for writing a "feel sorry for him" article as opposed to a "what kind of maroon gets arrested buying drugs in a commercial parking lot on the biggest party night of the year" article.
    I'm claiming entrapment!

    • I respect your right to an opinion tornado, even if I (and the vast majority of posters) totally disagree with you on this one... I also know that you will always stand behind your convictions and beliefs and that this doesn't bother you in the least. We're all entitled to our opinion... even if it's wrong.

      • thanks B4L but count the recent posts and it look like your "vast majority" isn't all agreeing with each other and quite a few are agreeing with me...
but even if it were 100 to 1, I still will stand by what is right and I support Will Egolf and will not label him an addict when the evidence argues strongly to the opposite

        • Nobody labeled him an addict

            • Of course he deserves the publicity....but not with the inferences that he is a drug addict when no one yet knows if he is....

even if you all turn out to be right... I still think its the wrong way to speculate....

... Is all this all really necessary? I understand that Tornado and other posters can get underneath people's skin quite easily, hence why I don't like to say anything on these boards, but when it comes to the well being of a player who has committed 6 year of his life to this institution, can we stop arguing over semantics over whose right and wrong and just come together and support this kid as a community. Bottom line is that Will has a problem whatever degree it may be, and after tearing his ACL twice there's a good chance he will need to be productive in a profession that would terminate him immediately if this happened after this year. Love him or hate him, he deserves to be helped in whatever way we can.

                /end rant

then who was that long column about by KW that discussed and debated addiction and what Egolf needs to do about it?
He stated Will "had a problem" and "needed to get help" then detailed the whole process - even quoting experts about de-tox and 30-day hospital stays...
I don't think it would have been any clearer if he'd have titled the column "WE is an addict"

Fair enough. I'll delete my post, as you make a very good point. Although what I posted was 100% factual, it wasn't fair to Will.

You also make a very good point regarding how this is treated now in comparison to how it would be treated in the corporate world. In my organization, it would lead to immediate dismissal.

                      • Rob, I agree - I have always loved, rooted for, and supported our Braves and I react as if they are my own kids and so I hate seing this whole thing mischaracterized...
In the end - I suspect the judge will see Will is a decent kid who chose poorly and broke the law .....and that he is not an addict

The biggest difference between you and me in this case is I'm looking at it with an unbiased opinion. You just can't stand the thought of KW providing an informative op-ed piece that most people on this forum actually agree with.

Like most message boards, there is a place for differing opinions. I agree with KW's and disagree with yours.
Well said O&B ,agree with you 100% as just about everyone on here does. We all know some people do not care for KW but even some on here that don't find themselves agreeing with KW. I for one thought KW wrote a very good and informative piece. Great article KW.

We have been through this T....He clearly said in the column he didn't know if he was an addict or not

He did talk about the possibility and did it very professionally IMO.

How many reasons are there that this could happen? Do you think this whole incident was an accident?

You are all free to draw your own conclusions, but please let me draw my own and stop drawing them then stating them for me.

It is correct you've said there's no evidence but you state the "no addiction" rather plainly in sight, which was the point I was getting at. That statement is too definitive of one for the situation, IMO.

And I'll re-emphasize - we don't know what the situation is, truly. There's evidence in both directions but we don't have an answer one way or the other yet.

So if you're going to accuse someone for assuming one side of the argument based on everything, you sure as heck better not assume the other side is correct yet.

                              • If indeed this was a one time off mistake by WE, it will be interesting to learn exactly how he (Will) managed to hook up with this drug dealer who just happened to have 6 vicoden on him near campus on New Year's Eve...

I am assuming this guy doesn't advertise... Someone had to hook them up...

Hopefully Fletcher Ryan doesn't have any more connections with BU's other athletes... or BU students for that matter.
