  • I AM WITH TORNADO

According to KW he has no idea if WE has an addiction to painkillers... so I don't see how its "ok" for him to publish an entire article in the paper with WE's name in the title and then ramble about addiction and rehab.

How would you feel if you were Will reading that very public article knowing you had no addiction whatsoever...

Its a reasonable hypothesis....but completely unnecessary at the moment..

sounds like a pretty strong directive and not just opinion...
Addiction or not he was buying drugs from a drug dealer so he needs help whether punitive or rehabilitation for his own good. The last thing will needs is for everyone to make excuses for him.

      • I am not with Tornado

It is obvious people who dislike KW see the article one way. Those that don't see it another. There may be some in between but I haven't noticed them.

I am 100% fine with the article and agree with how things were stated. I hear I am a little late to this thread and many post have come and gone that I am not able to see. But I just wanted to cast my vote to counter balance FWO's post.

Read my posts. I said I'm 85% ok with what KW wrote. So I consider myself in between.

I think this discussion has pretty much run its course, but I can't help but notice something a little funny....some of the posters who were chastising others that it isn't right to speculate about Will's case until all the facts are out, are now just fine with a column in the newspaper filled with speculation and even going further and telling everyone what course of action needs to be done with Will.

Here's a crazy idea. Don't get arrested getting out of your drug dealers car on a major thoroughfare!

If I'm Will, I am thanking KW for writing a "feel sorry for him" article as opposed to a "what kind of maroon gets arrested buying drugs in a commercial parking lot on the biggest party night of the year" article.

My thoughts exactly. I actually agree with Tornado in this case.

Exactly....it seems like some think this may have happened by accident

                    This.

We are a big time program. When a starting center gets arrested for buying drugs off the street, it is a big deal.

While I disagree, I think this is a reasonable approach. The existence of an article talking about addiction and rehab could be troubling on the surface if nothing is confirmed. But I didn't see the article as accusatory. I don't think it's an unnecessary article, but reasonable minds can disagree.

Why I think tornado gets a bit more vitriol is because of his reasoning WHY he disagrees. Your stance is very reasonable. While, t chose to take a quote of KW's out of context, and further misinterpret his message. He accused KW of assuming WE was an addict when KW said in the article that he didn't know. Then in tornado's own post, he assumes WE is not an addict, so he does the very same thing that he criticized KW for, only in the opposite direction.

I am assuming you mean some other posters. I just see my quote above it and feel like you are talking about me. But I didn't chastise other posters not to speculate. So I just wanted to point out that isn't me you are talking about.

college kids are occasionally known to make bad judgements and stupid decisions - why, I have even heard rumors that high school kids do the exact same thing.

I am in between, and I am hardly surprised that many seem to want to attack and disparage other posters because it's the classic ad hominem argument when you really can't counter on a cognitive basis.
... I don't dislike anyone and I make my mind up after reading the column and determining that what it says is objectionable. When KW writes good stuff I say so and have done such.

again - totally wrong - and I will help you by repeating that I never assumed any such thing - I have simply stated plainly and unequivocally that no evidence I see argues for drug addiction and the evidence seems to argue against it.
You are all free to draw your own conclusions, but please let me draw my own and stop drawing them then stating them for me.
